Hello Taxi People from a new member

Post by jacxe » Sat Apr 20, 2013 12:10 pm

Hello Everybody :D

My name is Stephen... but most people call me by my stage name Jac.

I've finally joined taxi... it was Taxi TV that convinced me it was the right thing to do.
So Hello Everybody - I hope I'll find some success with my music and make a few good friends along the way.

I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne in England and have been writing songs for most of my life - since I was 14. I remember listening to the end-of-year chart show on the the radio and being so disappointed - I only thought 1/4 of the songs were any good so I thought 'In that case I'll have to write better songs!' - Many songs and many years later - after loosing faith in my teenage years - and finding it again later - I've got a really good feeling about Taxi.

I have a plan for one year - to write and submit 24 songs this year to listings - but the songs have to be written and recorded for the listing - if they already exist then that's just a bonus.
If I submit to yes/no listings and I don't get through - I plan to pay for a critique - to get some feedback. Hopefully some of you could also give me some some feedback :) Does this sound like a decent plan - for a start.

I've heard a lot about 5 year plans for making a good living out of taxi - and a lot about the first year being just about getting into the swing of things. I've a sneaking suspicion I can hit the ground running since I've been looking at taxi TV for over a year and reading though all the listings and songwriting books as well as getting better at self producing :) - But time will tell.

At this point I would like to link to my taxi page but I can't seem to find the address anywhere - could someone help.

If you could see my page - you would see I've already uploaded my first submission I wrote and recorded specifically for a taxi listing - ''Believe In Us'
you would also see the link to some older self published songs I sang myself a couple of years ago.
You would notice the Bio is a bit empty - I'm English and self-promotion comes as naturally to me as a fish in a tree. What Does one write in these things!! answers on a postcard please :)
Do I need a moody 'artistic' photo of me? - what's the received wisdom on songwriters and photos?

Thanks for reading :) and any help will be much appreciated.

Hi Jac.

Welcome to the forum. And TAXI.

Thanks for introducing yourself.

The TAXI forum is definately a great community for feedback from your peers. Feel free to give back too.

I like your plan and your goals. It is very good to have a plan of action instead of just blowin' in the wind. I look forward to seeing you here in the forums. (and hearing your music when you get the url figured out)

Hi Jac,

Welcome. :)

Be sure to check out the peer-to-peer section too, it is near the bottom of the pages list and it is a great place to get feedback on your productions.

Look forward to hearing your work.

Login to your taxi account

go to artist info

put whatever you want in the link space at the bottom (I put Russell_Landwehr )

then the link to your page will be http://www.taxi.com/ (whatever you put here) i.e. mine is www.taxi.com/Russell_Landwehr

You can put this in your signature in the user control panel of your forum account

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome :D

Special thank you to Russell Landwehr - That was EXACTLY the information I needed :)

I'm just finished mixing my second submission and uploading it :)

Also finished my bio - but I'm still waiting for the link to activate. - It should be on my signature - Thanks for pointing out how to do this:)
