Help gauging a track for listing

Post by Kevm » Tue Jan 10, 2012 7:30 pm

Hi everyone - I seem to always submit off target so I figured I would ask about this listing to see if anyone had any insight before I submitted to it. I have a track titled "Dirty Swing" on my taxi page (http://www.taxi.com/kevinmoormann), I think it fits for this listing although I'm not sure that it's happy, especially the chorus.

New Listing CONTEMPORARY INDIE POP songs are URGENTLY needed by a TOP NOTCH Music Placement/Licensing Company for an INDEPENDENT FEATURE FILM. They need UPTEMPO INDIE POP songs (a la "HOUDINI" by FOSTER the PEOPLE : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEVa3jAaweE) that are DANCEY and UPLIFTING. QUOTING THE COMPANY: "Songs should be SOPHISTICATED and HAPPY, but NOT TOO CEREBRAL. HIGH PRODUCTION VALUE IS A MUST Ð cannot sound DATED or CHINTZY. ABSOLUTELY needs to sound MODERN and CURRENT! BPM should be between 108-130. Please, please, PLEASE listen to the referenced song prior to submitting." ORIGINAL songs only, NO COVERS. As always, do NOT copy or rip-off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. MALE or FEMALE VOCALS are both OKAY, but they specifically asked that you don't submit vocals with an Autotune effect. AVOID PROFANITY. Lyrics should be UNIVERSAL and AVOID specific references to names, dates, places, etc. The ESTIMATED fee for this placement is $10,000, minus 30% of the licensing fee. You must own or control 100% of the Master and Composition rights. You will KEEP 100% of your master, publishing and writer's share! Broadcast Quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine.) Please submit one to three songs online, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS by a person from the company or somebody they've hand-picked. NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. ALL submissions must be received no later than 11am (PST) Thursday, January 12th, 2012. TAXI # Y120112PO

Although your track isn't necessarily "We are Family,"
it seems just as "happy" as "Houdini." So, I don't think
it's off target for the listing, necessarily.

I think it would benefit from a little distortion. It is,
after all, "Dirty Swing."

I like the track. Very Ben Folds Five!

Good luck. I hope it's a forward!
