Re: Help me interpret this listing
That's so true... I'm asking myself now why didn't I think of mentioning that before =) duh! Also, for those of U who live too far away to call, like myself... Just write to them... I've been doing that and so far they have been very prompt at replying my emails... so, no excuse not to ask them directly.Regards,Kel

Re: Help me interpret this listing
Hmmm!? I'm not usually one to bitch, but, if we were all to start contacting Taxi about the specifics of each listing they would be overwhelmed by all the correspondence.I've tried to achieve a certain amount of skill at interpreting each listing and writing specifically for it. And I've enjoyed the challenge of trying to do this, but if the listing is that ambiguous then all the effort of interpreting and then writing for the listing becomes pointless.

Re: Help me interpret this listing
I realise they have contact numbers and email addresses and they are fairly speedy (although nothing to write home about), but I think it's unreasonably to have to write in everytime you have a query. They're listing should be clearer and there should be as much information as possible. I realise they can't always clear up everything, but to have two TAXI employees give different opinions on the same listing is a bit much? No?You would think a company that brags to its members about firing an employee (the webmaster) for one slip up would have the listings cleared up?

My educated guess is they would comply. I hope my guess is correct. They did not fire the webmaster. There was an issue with the person who ran (only) the forum (not the taxi webmaster) who resigned after being "talked to" about a problem. And even if one doubts whether that was voluntary or not (I don't but I expect some do), to be fair, without knowing what the "slip up" was, it's hard to compare with this listing issue. The main point of my post is IF they gave conflicting answers to questions about the listing, they should do their best to rectify the situation. Re: Help me interpret this listing
I agree. They are a fair and caring company so I think they would comply if questioned about a dodgy listing. I'm just talking about the listings in general. Each time the listings are released there are one or two that seem a little vague or as if info is being held back or something? The phrase used by Michael was "we bumped off the webmaster". Now to me that means he/she was fired, wouldn't you agree? Even if the person in question wasn't fired, Michael is still talking like he doesn't miss them at all and they were worthless to the company, which might be true, but it's still not a nice way to talk about a former employee, and it's EXTREMELY unprofessional to talk like this to your members? It's wrong for me to bitch and vent about TAXI in a thread unrelated to this issue, and I don't want it to seem like it's a major issue with me, it's not, if it was I'd bring it up with TAXI myself.Anyway, has anyone got a number for TAXI I can call about this listing? They have taken 2 days and still no reply to my email, its the weekend now, with a bank holiday on Monday and the song is due on 20th, so I need a number. I called both the numbers on the contact page and neither work. I'm living in Ireland. Thanks guys,Colm.

There may be 1-2 listings each 2 weeks for which a little clarification may be helpful. One or two is a pretty small percentage. All I can say is compared to what I deal with every day outside of taxi, the listings are much more descriptive. A&R and film/TV folks out there are notoriously bad at describing what they want. I pitch music through many channels and I often deal with requests for genre X music with "a la" references that aren't even in that genre. For the most part (yes, there are exceptions and disappointments & sometimes even mistakes-- it's not perfect), the "a la" references provided by taxi are pretty good.I think if you poll those here who pitch their music through other vehicles, you'd fine that descriptions are often vague or contradictory everywhere. Taxi has to take the best they can get from the listing parties while walking the fine line of not pressing so hard they turn those parties off-- they have tons of music coming at them from all over and if someone drains their time too much, it's no sweat off their nose to stop returning phone calls and emails. Taxi has no reason to purposely hold back anything except confidential info that the party does not want disclosed. The reality is taxi makes the most money when members make placements because the best marketing is the success stories. So, holding back info would be silly.Mar 12, 2009, 5:42pm, moderatordavid wrote: So, it's with a sad heart that I'm announcing that Jimi has resigned as the moderator of the forum. And before anybody jumps to ANY conclusions whatsoever, this was not a forced resignation, nor did it have anything to do with recent events on the Forum. There was a policy disagreement between Jimi and I over one tiny, specific thing that was unto itself. I exerted my authority (owners of companies occasionally get to do that) and the stubborn little sh*thead resigned.I've never seen any reference on these forums to "bumping the webmaster". That doesn't mean it does not or didn't exist-- or it wasn't in a newsletter. My guess is if that phrase was used it would have been in reference to proposed taxi website improvements since Jimi was never referred to as "webmaster". I also never read where ML talked as if someone like her was worthless to the company. What I read was quite the opposite. However, the discussion regarding the employee slip-up is largely immaterial to that of the listing issue IMHO... It IS a valid concern that member's questions need to be answered in as timely a manner as possible to meet listing deadlines. Best,Casey

Re: Help me interpret this listing
Backing up two or three posts, I'd just like to clarify that I don't bring this issue up as a broad criticism of Taxi; they are a great company, I have no reservations making that statement, but they can't get everything right all the time.I think listings could be clearer, if 'pays homage to' means they want a 'version' of a classic song, then a couple more words could easily clear that up and get the idea across more emphatically.I've also questioned at times whether the screener just checks the 'not close enough for the listing' box as a quick 'go to' rejection when it really might be something else that they are rejecting. If the listings were a little more specific it would be more difficult to use this as an out. If we can put out all the energy into interpreting the listings that we do, (after all it's one of the chief tenets of 'how to get a forward') then we should expect the same effort by those who make the listings.I really don't want to see this thread become a dirty laundry. There's been way to much drama around here lately and I've tried to stay clear of it. This was truly meant to be constructive criticism.Rumours about webmasters and whatever else are just that...rumours.

And nothing wrong with constructive feedback as far as I'm concerned. I jumped in because I disagreed with some things that were said. But, I think addressing concerns about the level of listing detail is something better left for taxi to do. Best, Casey

Re: Help me interpret this listing
It seems I've come across very strong? I just meant to say what Elser said. I think listings could be clearer, and they should be, given the amount of money it costs to submit to them.About the webmaster thing, it's not a "rumour" I'm hearing off others. One of the email listings was sent out wrong a short while ago, and the corrected version had a post saying something to the effect of, "I'm sorry about the listing mistake, we bumped off the webmaster so that won't be happening again". Obviously, I don't know the ins and outs of the situation but I interpreted that the guy/girl in charge of sending out the email listings sent out the wrong one so Michael fired him/her and bragged about it to us?
