help

Post by Raincoat » Tue Aug 27, 2024 7:12 am

Sorry, I'm new to the platform and I need some help. What does 'Lots of MODERN HIP-HOP TENSION INSTRUMENTALS and/or INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by an International Music Library with lots of great placements in Film and TV' mean? Do I need to deliver a full song or just parts of a song? I don't understand, thanks to anyone who can help me.

Hey Raincoat:

This means the company is looking for a lot of cues and instrumentals, it doesn’t mean you have to write 25 cues to send in to them or the listing (please don’t send 25), it means there is a lot of opportunity there for your music and a bunch of other members music if they fit the criteria that the library is looking for. I think I found the listing and they are looking for cues tgat are 1:30 in length and/or instrumentals that are 2-4 minutes in length. Make sure your compositions fit one of these two criteria. Just a note on the full length instrumentals, even though you could go up to 4 minutes, I tend to try to keep them somewhere between 2:45 to 3:15. For me that just feels like the right length for a library to use and gives them plenty of variation to keep the piece interesting.

Hey Ricky, sounds like you're at the very start of this journey. It's okay - almost all of us started from zero and had these same questions.

Your best bet is to probably head over to YouTube and search "Taxi A&R" or "Taxi TV" or something. Taxi has a TON of videos on all of these topics.

Thanks to both of you, can I ask what DISPATCH is and how it differs from a regular Taxi listing? I didn't understand well.

I don't use dispatch, I don't work at that level yet. YMMV

No problem asking, but with a little bit of digging you can find some useful answers such as these. :)

Hey man, all of these questions have already been answered either here on the forums, on Taxi TV, and in Taxi's membership materials. If you don't have time to do the research, then you could call Taxi directly. Their phone number is at the very top of this web page.
