Re: HELP - which interface, and RAM???
If he's recording to the internal drive on the Mac Bood pro, then it makes sense that you're getting that error. Most internal drives on laptops run at 5400 RPM and that's too slow for audio. You need to be running a 7200RPM drive at a minimum. RAM is not the issue in this case. That MacBook is at least as powerful as your G5 and shouldn't have any problems recording and playing back tracks from a nice fast Firewire drive. I'd invest in an external drive right away.Apogee stuff is really good. Once you get to that level, it's all good and it's splitting hairs. I challenge you to tell the difference between a Fireface and an Apogee. If you can tell the difference, then by all means buy the Apogee.I've heard really good things about the Apogee Duet which is great if you use Logic and are only recording one or two things at a time. For demos it should be really really nice!Cheers!Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

it's not the gear, it's the ear!

The error sounds like a buffer problem, I've gotten the system overload with Protools, and it is always due to the acceleration not being set high enough. Check the manual for the program and it should walk him through the proper setup for a Mac or PC for recording vs play back.
