Help writing a Bio

Post by shwnklly » Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:07 am

Hello everybody,Something I've always had trouble with(and I'm sure many of you can relate) is writing my own music bio. I never really know where to start and I've never been good at writing about myself or my music. Can someone give me some advice on how to go about this the "right way"? Also, I don't have many credits to my name. How can I help sell myself without having any reviews, awards to speak of? Should I obtain those first? Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much.-Shawn

Hi Shawn! Well, I got some good advice once about a bio.....make it short, list reviews, experience, where you live, your influences. I have an example on my broadjam site (the link is underneath this, scroll down to 'short description'). Got a compliment on it once from a reviewer here on Taxi so I guess it's good enough. As for tune reviews, there are some folks like Gian Fiero (google him) and many other sites who will review your work. You don't need them but they do help.HTH.
