Hi, I'm a forum newbie

Post by sarahrm » Fri Apr 30, 2010 6:06 pm

Hi fellow Taxi forumers,
My name is Sarah Rhodes and I am a singer songwriter. I have been a member of Taxi for a little over a year now and have learned so much! At the last road rally I was in a class with Jai Josefs learning about song craft and I put my CD up there... to make a really long story short he had me get up in front of the whole class and sing my song with him with a few changes and BAM my song was awesome! People were coming up to me saying OMG you've got a hit on your hands!! After that I've stayed in contact with Jai Josefs and went to his house and worked on song craft for a whole day just me and him! I learned more about song writing that day than I knew existed. So here I am now, having used what I have learned and still learning (thanks to the taxi webisodes!) to reach my goal of making a living with music.

I am from Bakersfield, CA and I love to get out of town so anyone in California want to work together let me know! My styles vary... Most of my stuff is adult contemporary like Sara Bareilles, Sarah Mclachlan, Fiona Apple but I also have some really great country crossover stuff too! I'm in need of a producer and collaborator. I have a home studio but my chops are more tuned for singing and writing. Anyway, can't wait to get to know you all better and see some of you at the Rally in November!!

Thanks,
Sarah Rhodes

HI Sara,

Welcome to the forum!! It sounds to me like you and I could get along :) . I practice my chops all the time and although I have some good lyrics I don't enjoy writing them as mush as I like tweeking them. Hopefully we'll get to do a song together sometime. I will have to get some of my more AC style songs uploaded so you can check them out. I am a passionate rock & roller but I love all styles of music and I do a lot of production work for people. I have songs so slow they'd put you to sleep then songs so metal they'd give ya nightmares LOL.. just kidding  . If you might be interested I can Email you some clips of work I prefer not to have online until I finish them completely. My Taxi site only has a few rock songs on it atm because I just rejoined Taxi after 2 years of practicing recording etc... I guess I really didn't need it though because a song I had done when I first joined Taxi 4 years ago, then redid after a critque with Taxi has been used in a TV show on MTV. I just never submitted to anything else until last year and it was already used. That kicked me in the butt to rejoin Taxi and get the ball rolling again.

ANYWAY.. sorry for all that, I just wanted to let you know a little about me... WELCOME!!
