Hillbilly Music

Post by teleblaster » Tue Jan 27, 2009 5:35 am

I'm pretty stoked. I've got a publisher that wants some tele-bendin', slide slippin hillbilly music right away to present for a TV show (basically wants 'em yesterday). I sent him a cut of mine called Trash Talkin' and knocked this out last night.Shucky Darnhttp://soundclick.com/share?songid=7280592We're talkin' fast track here, but they're short cuts, no need for a full song format. Any and all input on the track, particularly on the mix is appreciated.Thx!

teleblaster!! My what fine chops you have!! The guitar definitely dominates the mix, might be a little harsh but all the notes are there!! You might try dropping around 2.5k about 2 db (very tight q) on the guitar. Did you notch out the bass and bass drum? I think they might could stand a little boost but maybe not if the guitar comes down with eq. It's sounds so close to me that I think only tiny changes are necessary at this point. I might pan the drums back center a little more and spread out the guitar w/fx just to see what it sounds like.Just some things to try.Good Luck!!Kitz

Thanks Kitz! Love it! Great, detailed feedback. I'll take a look at those changes tonight. Can't wait to get home and start crackin' on another cut. Askin' me to play hillbilly is like askin' a possum to eat out of a garbage can. Find something your good at and all... < lame excuse> I finished this up last night with tired ears... </lame excuse>Erich

Whooa, this is cool! It sure sounds like this is what you're meant to do, completely natural sounding. I'm gonna ditto on the guitar coming back a bit or bass & drums a bit . . . or a combo. What a smokin' track!

Thanks all for the listen and the help. I sent this in to my publisher. He liked it a lot, just said I might take the tempo up a few ticks on the next one. I saved the project file as a template and I'm gonna try to get another one done by tomorrow evening. I'll keep tweaking balance and guitar tone -- still looking for the sweet spot.Hillbilly on a mission. Erich" You can't hurt a Telecaster.
