HIP-HOP & Extreme Sports
Hello Taxi members, this is my first post! I've been a member of taxi for exactly a year now and it has come time to renew in dec. I have to say its been a pretty cool experience. I've had about 4 of my tracks forwarded thus far and have gotten valuable information from my returns allowing me to refine my craft. Recently there was this dispatch:HIP-HOP SONGS and INSTRUMENTALS needed by the Music Supervisor of an established Production Company that is a major player specializing in the Extreme Sports Film industry. Stylistically tracks can range from underground hip-hop a la Jurassic 5 to mainstream hip-hop a la Jay-Z. Songs and/or instrumentals should be very modern sounding. No profanity or uncleared samples, please! Tracks need to be 60 seconds in length or higher. Broadcast quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three songs or instrumentals online or per CD, include lyrics (if applicable). All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than 2:00pm (PST) on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. TAXI #D091124HHTo this listing I have submitted: -Game Time-A Gangster Win-MotocrossAll three were returned, they came back as stylistically off target and one for instrumental performance (Game Time). This was good news in a way because I've had returns for my tracks not being 'broadcast quality'. At-least I know the sound and mixing is there. I've been working hard to improve the quality of my instrumentals and I feel I'm making progress. Style wise, the listing says Extreme Sports, Hip-Hop, a la underground to mainstream, jurassic 5, jay z. Hip-Hop can incorporate a broad range of sounds, styles, and genres. When I think extreme sports I think skydiving, motocross, action, drama, crash and burn, crazy jumps and stunts, etc.. I felt I made hip-hop music to resemble the energy of extreme sports.Ok so now there is this listing:HIP-HOP TRACKS - WITH VOCAL HOOKS IN THE CHORUS - needed by the Producer of an Extreme Sports Reality TV Show. He needs transitional pieces that are basically instrumental tracks with a lyrical chorus/hook. Please no lyrics in the verses! Clean versions only - no profanity! Tracks used will receive credits during airplay, end credits, and your web site link posted on show. Recordings need to be Broadcast Quality (great home recordings should be fine). Please submit one to three tracks online or per CD, include lyrics (for the chorus hook). All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Wednesday, December 30, 2009. TAXI #S091230HHFor this listing I went this direction instead:-"On My Grind"Though it resembles what they are looking for Im not sure if its good enough or if its the right direction. In this month Im going to be producing 2 more tracks of different styles to see if I can hit the mark. Any insight would help, thanks.www.taxi.com/visionexact
