Re: Hipster lounge/Space age pop listing.
I checked out your myspace page, and I like the musical universe you're in. To my ears, your piece Jaiden's Realm seems a closer fit than 3rd eye, although it has no vocals. Mind you, I am thinking of StereoLab primarily - but although the vibe of 3rd eye seems right, the clearness of the vocal does not, IMHO. "Clearness" is a great technical term! I can hear what is being sung, and the voice quality, too well! That is what I mean. I hope you post links to the other songs, and then more people will be able to comment, give you more feedback, and probably more intelligent feedback!--Mer

Re: Hipster lounge/Space age pop listing.
Hi ology,I wish I could listen to your tracks, but I am out of town at the moment and using a lame dial-up connection…so I’m gonna have to wait until I get back to LA this weekend.I kinda know a little about this genre as I am doing the score for a movie entirely in this style. This kind of music is very sultry and jazzy with lots of horns, congas, bongos, and vibraphones. “Exotica” is the usual term for it, and it came from the 1950’s and early 60’s. Maybe it could be described as “Polynesian Big Band”. lol! Martin Denny and Les Baxter are the leaders in this style. Pink Martini is an example of a current group doing this kind of music, and the modern form is sometimes called "Lounge".Anyway, I did an exotica song for a TAXI listing 8 years ago – my first foray into this genre. So I submitted it again for this listing. It was forwarded, so I figured I’d post it here if you’re curious.Hope this helps. Re: Hipster lounge/Space age pop listing.
Hey guys,I'm finally back in LA and was able to listen to your stuff. I LOVE it!!!! Y'all got some killer tracks man! I think the reason that they didn't get forwarded is that they sound very contemporary. A lot of the stuff you used -- synths, trip hop beats, etc. etc...weren't around back in the 50's and 60's. Trust me though -- you guys have nothing to worry about. You're awesome. I'm gonna go listen to some more of your tracks now. Cheers!ChuckP.S. What kinda gear do you use? Very cool sounds!

Re: Hipster lounge/Space age pop listing.
Hey thanks Chuck . Thats much appreciated. We're running our rig off a dual mac pro using Protools HD 3 accel with 7GB ram. On the way in (tracking) some of the gear we use are by: Brent Avril, Lundal pic-pre, Old School Audio mic pre, Tube-tech dual, Avalon 737, Neve portico & purple audio. Sound designing is mostly done off traditional inst. and the Muse Receptor with a ton of soft synths like: Stylus RMX, Atmosphere, NI FM8, NI Massive, Oddity, Minimonsta, Vangard, Reason 3, Imposcar, and a few outboard synths. Id go into more detail if you ever want to hit us up with a message. Too much to pick through at the moment. I appreciate you taking a listen. take care.

Heard both; 10west is more on-target for the listing IMHO. Ology good too, though.
