"Hold Your Breath" Electro Acoustic Tension Instrumental

Post by johndalenow » Thu Oct 27, 2022 8:14 pm

Is the melodic line of the piano "sparse" enough compared to the references?

ARTFUL, SPARSE, ELECTRO-ACOUSTIC TENSION INSTRUMENTALS and/or INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a top-tier European Music Library with Major Distribution that focuses on placements in Feature Films.

NOTE: This new Company is BRAND NEW to requesting music from TAXI, so this is an excellent opportunity to create a new relationship for you and your music with a catalogue you're probably not in yet!

This Library is looking for sparse Instrumentals (or Cues) in the general ballpark of the following references:

"Still Machines" by Christof Dejean

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikcaQRYzQM4

"Synergy" by Mantas Savickis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMZZxt_sFww

"3.4_5-internal-4udit-team.usf" by Mac Quayle (from 0:00 - 0:56)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSFZfPetHjk

"The Waters Edge" by Christof Dejean

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeQ9tBvITJc

Please submit well-produced Instrumentals (or Cues) with sparse, electro-acoustic instrumentation that create an unsettling, tension-filled vibe and feel. Minimalist arrangements in the general ballpark of the references will work best for this request – think pianos, synths, sound design elements, etc. Craft your pieces to have a subtle sense of dynamics, layers, and forward motion. Please be sure your production and any virtual sounds or samples you use are high-quality and not dated-sounding. If you have artful pieces that could add tension and intrigue to scenes in movies, send them in!

Your submissions should be roughly 90 Seconds long for Cues, and about 2 to 3 minutes long for Instrumentals, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ Songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Instrumentals you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Companies, Catalogs, or any "monetization"/sync, or publishing admin deals with TuneCore, CDBaby, SongTrust, etc. Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Library. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. In some rare cases, there is the option to get an upfront payment in exchange for 20% - 30% of the writer's share – but that can be discussed directly with the Library. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit as many Instrumentals or Cues as you'd like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022. TAXI # S221115RS

Hey John, I thought the piece did a great job of creating tension and setting an eerie mood, well done. The piano is definitely sparse and matches the references very well. Nice work on this, and good luck!

Hey John, great work! So many nice sonic ideas. I agree with Doug, it's eerie and creates tension. Really liked the steps/kick drum and the way it moves from left to right and develops dynamically. The climax with the distorted sound is very surprising and a makes a satisfying closure to the whole cue.

Maybe the ambience and the texture can be sparser at the beginning, just the piano, long notes and a beautiful reverb.

Thank you, Alan. I greatly appreciate your comments. I'll experiment with your idea of a little less at the very beginning. Thanks again, brother! Best, John
