Low rotor on the Leslie is another common application for the EV RE20. The first one I saw was at a radio station, second was in a big commercial studio on a Leslie, with two MD 421s on the high rotor at 90o. Thought it looked exotic, compared to all the SM57s-58s.

If you want a recommendation for the RE-20 from one of the greatest American patriots --- Rush Limbaugh even uses one. Of course, his is gold and not silver. Maybe Mr. Oxycontin-breath spent a little more to get a gold-plated one! Ern

Like a club mic, I sure wouldn't want to use Rush's after him with it smelling like cigar smoke and liquor! I certainly don't want to turn this into a political thread, but I used to listen to Sean Hannity a few years ago while working on orchestral scores to get another viewpoint (I'm an open-minded guy! ). I'm not sure what kind of mic Hannity uses, but he completely lost me on April Fools' Day back then when he told his audience "I had to step over a homeless man sleeping on the sidewalk to get into my studio. Folks, I had an epiphany. I decided to become a Democrat and really start caring about those less fortunate than me."I smelled a rat, but he kept this up for hours as his listeners kept calling in and imploring him not to leave his conservative principles. What a bunch of mindless lemmings. I finally emailed him and said his joke was NOT funny; he WAY overstepped his role as a comedian, and I told him I'd NEVER listen to him again. What a jerk.Frankly, I hope he uses an SM-58 that's been used in a beer bar for 20 years. Now, back to our regularly scheduled program! Ern

Heh good question... I flipped through my acoustics books but didn't see anything really. I was actually thinking about putting cardboard or some kind of think paper product like poster board over my broadband traps to add some live sound back into my room until I get wood floors. I always wondered about some kind of synthetic fabric... you'd almost have to cover your traps in plastic or something I think.
