horror forward

Post by fusilierb » Mon Sep 22, 2008 7:09 pm

Hi all, I've been a Taxi member for one year now, just sort of stalking - Checking out the calls for submissions and writing various things for them - always in the instrumental department. For the most part, I've really never finished anything on time that was polished enough to submit. (Was struggling to learn all my new recording gear) And the three things I did submit weren't forwarded, mainly cause of engineering problems - so say the critics. Turns out that those problems were mainly that I sucked at it for a long time. Still working on it, but starting to feel at least competent with it now. Turns out they were right. So this year I have a bunch of things ready to be polished up and submitted. The horror call caught me off guard (I live in New Orleans and its the height of hurricane season and we've evacuated a couple of times in the last month) and I barely finished this on time, as far as I'm concerned it still needs a bit more polish. But I was out of time, again. And hey it got forwarded! Just joined the forums and am still kind of figuring my way around all this. I think this is the link:Look for "Stalking Death" (I know, trying to come up with titles at the last minute does not ensure inspirational genius)http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... ilierThere are two pieces uploaded on that page. I meant to send in both of them. I actually like "Horror Groove" better but I couldn't get the mix right in enough time. Always a day late and a dollar short, but I'm getting quicker. Always next time. The forward made the call. I will now renew for another year. We'll see how this year goes.

Welcome Bryan,Very very cool tracks. I think these are great. Like Allen I don't hear any problems on either track. Both are made to a very high standard IMHO. Don't think you'll have problems gettin forwards if the rest of your stuff is up to this standard. Good luck...keep cranking em out.Derek

Thanks to all of you for the kind words of encouragement! It's good to know the Taxi forums are a friendly place. I'm looking forward to spending more time in here and to getting familiar with everyone's music. There's some real talent in here.

Hey! Great track, I`m not watching that movie, tho. Yikes! We have two things in common: I lived in the big easy for 10 years and am also an Yngwie fan. When they tell me he has an ego problem I always say he can afford to!

Hi Brinda,What parts of New Orleans did you live in? Have you been back since "the storm" ? Yngwie definitely has earned the right to have his head slightly enlarged. I actually saw him about 6 years ago in LA. Although is was still mind blowing, it was almost equally mind blowing watching him to cram his new body into his old spandex uniforms. Yikes! But as he says, "Groove or Die".Nice to meet you.
