I come from a different perspective, which is... I kinda almost know mostly what to do with instrumental tracks when mixing. But I don't know anything about how to mix the human voice effectively. So I've been kinda concentrating on instrumentals, trying to crack that (and have this longing for some more articulations). So I'll admit, I've been walking slowly on this mic/vocal recording, trying to get my mind around it. Actually this thread has been great, because it has motivated me to get me act in gear in terms of getting the gear It was my understanding that one doesn't just walk into the store and buy a (reasonably priced) vocal condenser mic and expect all problems to be solved. In addition, in the search for a better vocal mic... I don't know what it is I should be listening for. Because of this thread, I arranged to borrow the Apex 435 to record some vocal tracks. And I found out about the ART Phantom III phantom power unit. When I get the phantom power thingy, I'll record my voice a capella, 'cause nothing is more revealing. And I'll post up a track or two to see if the experts here can tell me whether the Apex is a good mic for my voice. Once we've got that figured out, we can move on to the next problem... of me mixing the tracks to broadcast quality Thanks everyone for suffering through this one with me I do listen... and appreciate the help!!xxo Hummin'bird
