How quickly need to respond to song acceptance

Post by Antaren » Tue Apr 18, 2023 11:43 am

I have one of my songs accepted by a company after it was forwarded by Taxi. How soon do I need to reply? Thanks.

Congratulations! That's great! I'd say within twenty-four hours, but I wouldn't tarry!

Why would you hesitate? Review any attachments they provided, then respond the same day acknowledging receipt of their email and thanking them for contacting you. Let them know you are reviewing the paperwork and will get back to them soon, and ask any questions you might have.

Not really sure why anyone would hesitate... hearing from libraries is the exact reason people join Taxi, right? :)

More importantly, if your goal is to get into libraries, and to generate income, you need to treat this as a business, not a hobby. Timely communication and professionalism is always a good idea. Make it easy for your clients to work with you, don't give them the wrong impression. They are plenty of other composers out there that will fill the void if you choose not to connect. Often these projects have a deadline and they don't have lots of time to wait. Good luck!

Five years.  Isn't that what the Five Year Plan is about?

Seriously, you got the right answers here. Review the materials and get back to them within 1-2 business days. Good luck!

:D Casey
