How to List with Taxi

Post by themichaelscott » Tue Sep 10, 2013 4:16 pm

Just trying to understand the business a little better. I figure the more I know how it works, the better I can make it work.

When I explain Taxi to people I compare it to the classified ads in the newspaper. This got me wondering if the people that post listings with Taxi pay a fee for this. If so, how much? If Taxi members pay a submission fee to keep them honest, I'm thinking if people pay to list they might be more likely to use songs they receive. If the listing is free they might not be as invested.

Thanks,

Michael

Hello dear Michael,

I know the answer to your inquiry, because Michael Laskow, the Founder of TAXI, said it clearly in one of his TV Programs.

Companies, etc, do not pay for proposing Listings to TAXI.
TAXI works on the elaboration/redaction of the Listings after TAXI has received the proposition/project/plan from the Company.
Some Companies are familiar to TAXI, some are new.

Michael Laskow said that TAXI was not charging the Companies because it makes it easier that way on the Companies to correspond and make business with TAXI.

And Companies are very important to TAXI !

This is a way to put it :

"TAXI is an Independent A&R company, based in Calabasas, CA, that was founded in 1992 by music veteran Michael Laskow with the intent of helping songwriters, artists, bands, and composers get their music heard by record labels, music publishers, and supervisors of film/TV projects."

Good to know. Sounds like these companies have nothing to loose so that means more listings for us. I guess I'm surprised there are not more listings if it's free. It would be fun to be the person that sifts through piles of music looking for that diamond in the rough... for a little while. It's amazing how connections and who you know can be such a valuable business. But then again if no one in this business relied on friends and they only cut the good songs I wouldn't have to hear Little Bit of Everything be Keith Urban ever again. ;)

Thanks for the info,

Michael
