Quickest way is to go to their page

click on the three dots to the R of the 'follow' button

choose 'block (name)'

As an added note - I find when I add new tracks that I often get bogus likes and comments from accounts that are looking to advertise something on their page. I've found that loading something up private and then changing it to public in a few hours seems to stop them from finding me on the new upload search or whatever.

Peter, Russell,

I am kind of glad you brought up this topic.

The reason you might want to remove followers is because there are a lot of phony accounts on Soundcloud -- set up by SC themselves?

I will post a new track, and 5 seconds later I get a "heart" from someone -- not enough time to have listened to the track at all.

I go to this mysterious person who has liked my track, and it often turns out to be a gorgeous young woman who has about 2,000 people she is following and not a single music track she wrote by herself!

I think this is some kind of ploy by SoundCloud to get you to go pro.

The way to remove these phony followers is to click on the ..... after the person's name on their profile, and follow the prompts to remove them.

Unless you want a gorgeous young woman who may or may not exist following you..... ....on SC! Ha ha, maybe you do, but it's not my cup of tea!

HTH

Excellent question, Russell. I'm afraid to check out some followers' pages for fear the songs' thumbnails might all feature a confederate flag. The Allman Brothers were the original Southern Rock band, and the first to stop using the battle flag in their imagery/merch, but it took 'til the 90s for Skynerd to get the memo. [I used to gig in Jacksonville, full disclosure] I'm kinda sad they took the Dukes Of Hazzard off the air, though; back then that image didn't mean nothing but a stiff middle finger, aimed at the Man. This might be hard to do, nowadays, but imagine growing up listening to Cheech & Chong records and never meeting an actual black person, 'til you were fifteen. When I did it was pretty awesome, cuz we had so much Motown in common; I turned him on to Maynard Ferguson, and he turned me on to P-Funk. I definitely got the better of that deal. Not sure why I'm free-associating like this, maybe it's the medication. [clears throat]

Anyways, the reason it's a good question is...I smell a story. ;)

Thanks, Vikki for the 'go private first' option.
Otherwise, to answer Russell's question -
I promptly delete anything remotely obscene or vulgar, or is in just poor taste; imho.
I'd like the page to look somewhat professional, even though much of it is "soft-humor".
Hopefully it projects that way.
Thanks, others, for comments.
Cheers.

I think the soundcloud junk/spam hackers are getting a little more advanced. I'm getting followed by several cute females with just on or two tracks posted, usually the time frame is "1 month" ago. No other activity, tracks, playlists or likes.

Personally I block all of the Junk followers for the sake of being Honest to myself...
But I do like the question "Why would it hurt?"
Anyone have experience with your music reaching more audiences due to the bots???
That would be the ultimate question... I think... Exposure, if it helps...
Or as in Hollywood... All Press is Good Press!
...if it makes you feel good to have multiple robots liking you then do it, we are living in the future! :P

I know a guy who's got that whole 'bot' thing down. He's got something he calls 'spiders' and he has a huge network but nothing much to offer musically. But yes, he's definitely getting his name out there and making a ton of connections.

I don't really see how a "junk" follower affects my account or image. How many people click into the accounts that are "following" someone you like? I don't. And I can tell straight away if it's junk or not that followed me... but I don't care if the junk accounts follow me or not. It's no reflection on me. It only takes a moment to tell if they are junk or not. I'm pretty good at resisting obvious spam links or malware urls. Worrying about Junk followers uses too many brain cells. I'm much better off using those limited synapses to analyze Mojo's free-form posts.
