"I don't get it !"

Has this ever happened to you ? Let's say you wrote a pretty fair song. Let's say the critique had a lot of positive feedback. Let's say the title of the song is a well known colloquial expression that is and has been understood by virtually everyone you have ever mentioned it to.............are you with me so far.?Now let's say a Taxi screener returned it and this well known fairly common expression (which is clearly explained throughout the body of the song and relates to everything that is being stated in the song) goes RIGHT OVER HIS HEAD. He doesn't get it at all !! I don't know about you but my reaction is: If you tell me that my style is dated, my meter is bad and I am funny looking, I can live with that.But if you tell me something that indicates that perhaps you are so young that you haven't been around the block yet ....that's pretty rough way to lose a "forwarding" and pretty hard to take.Anybody out there have any similar experiences and if so what was your reaction ?Thanks,TBASS

Not sure, but it might help if you posted a link or something to your song, so people could react specifically to your situation. There might be some insight that would come from it.... or maybe you'd find some affirmation that you've got a good point. Best wishes, --Tim
