One day we pulled out the good mics. The Neumann, the Blue, the Shure and this (much) less expensive and little known to us, Rode. All things were equal in the setup, and that darn little thing sounded better or at least as good as the others. In fact, as far as noise or hiss (THD) it sounded the cleanest!
Needles to say, I bought the NT1 (with my employee discount, of course) and somewhere between 12 and 15 years later, it is still my main recording mic and has given me zero problems.
I would absolutely recommend it.
