Re: I'm Gonna Find Love
Hi Claire,Thanks, I don't think I can access Taxi.com so I'll check you out on broadjam. I'm just North of Nashville, about 30 minutes... grew up in Donelson and graduated from McGavock and Nashville Tech eons ago. Are you originally from Nashville? Do you perform? Write your own music?Sorry to sound so nosey My lyrics seem to be all over the country genre. I'm hoping to find musicians and or singer/songwriters to collaborate on them. After dabbling a couple of years ago, in May I began writing and this time I'm trying to take it seriously. I have about 60 lyrics in various stages - 20-25 finished, maybe 20 more almost finished. I can't play an instrument, barely sing well enough to convey a melody and its safe to say I know nothing about music theory. People seem to think I have a very good sense of timing. So far the only song I've had set to music is "Honey's Auto Parts" co-written with Robert Victor. I wanted a female version and I let some of the changes he made slide, but all in all it turned into a cute 'writers night' type song. Its on my myspace page myspace.com/cherylamoon Personally, I think the concertina and harmonica make it too folksy, but "Honey's" daughter loves it and wants to sing it. If you visit, please pay no attention to "How's That Workin' Out" because its not! The melody definitely needs a revamp. Right now it sounds like a broadway musical Here is the latest on "I'm Gonna Find Love" Thanks to you and Matt, I believe love has been cut in half ... BTW, in the first draft of this "I'm Gonna" was "I Wanna" - Does one or the other make a big difference? any preference?? “Gonna Find Love”Copyright 2008 Cheryl A MoonCountry Pop – mid-up tempo V1Where does love go? When its just wanderin’ ‘round?Sometimes I wonder If it wants to be foundIs there some kind of old homeWhere it just sits aroundTalkin’ ‘bout first datesFrom its younger days...... Chorus:I’m gonna find loveI’m gonna look into its eyesGonna hold it close foreverI’m gonna make love mine ( I liked 'make love' in this line)I know its out there somewhereI’m gonna find it somehowI'm gonna find loveBefore time runs outV2Can love see me? Is it looking for me now? Could it be lost On the other side of town?Did love pass by me On the merry-go-roundOr walkin’ down isle fourIn the grocery store......Chorus:I’m gonna find loveI’m gonna look into its eyesGonna hold it close foreverI’m gonna make love mine I know it’s out there somewhereI’m gonna find it somehowI'm gonna find loveBefore time runs outBridge: (w/lift)Maybe I should take out an ad So love will know Exactly where I amChorus:I’m gonna find loveI’m gonna look into its eyesGonna hold it close foreverI’m gonna make love mine I know it’s out there somewhereI’m gonna find it somehowI'm gonna find loveBefore time runs out

Re: I'm Gonna Find Love
BTW Claire,If you need an older singer, I have a friend in Nashville who is 29 and may be interested in demo work. She can be heard at www.myspace.com/tiffanybrysonShe can sound like Natalie when she sings "Sin Wagon" so I'm not real thrilled with the sample songs on her page.Lately, she's been doing a lot of the chorus work for the Christian rap songs her boyfriend produces.[hope y'all don't mind a shameless plug for a friend]Cheryl

WOW Cheryl!Very nice job. I love how you used Claire's "it" suggestion but still alternated back to "love".I instantly started hearing a rythm and melody as I read. Thats a good thing when just reading lyrics gets a tempo going.I am impressed. I know from experience how hard it is to take other people's ideas or opinions and apply them to your work. This is a very good lyric IMO. I like how you shortened the bridge. Great job of summing up the story with just a bit of humor. I also like the "make love" line.Very cool. Im happy for you. This is how re-writes should go.M~P.S. I personally like "Gonna find love" as the title. But thats just my opinion.

I am impressed. I know from experience how hard it is to take other people's ideas or opinions and apply them to your work.Absolutely and hey, Cheryl - good work!It is so important to be teachable. The only way to get better at something is to listen and learn and practice. None of us is perfect and we can all do better, and going into anything with a closed mind is the surest way to remain stuck in place. Virtually every song I've written (except for the first dozen or so) has been rewritten, some of them multiple times. No, I'm from NY originally and lived in Florida for many years before moving to TN. I can play guitar enough to find melodies and I can sing well enough not to embarrass myself but I don't play out. I usually write with people who are better at melody and groove than I am. I'm smart enough to know my limitations and work with people who are musically gifted. I've done the melodies on some songs and they're not bad, but my better songs are all collaborations with music writers.Claire

Re: I'm Gonna Find Love
oops - one more thing. For me, "I'm Gonna" is much stronger than "I Wanna". It's a more proactive image. In my opinion.c
