But thanks everyone for the advice and Stuart thanks for the potential partnership in some tracks. I couldnt let you do it all for nothing and we'll get some share between us worked out on any tracks we do in the future and you can only imagine my reaction :P :D : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVQYhnacwPo

I see Cardell answered that question. I don't want to harp on that.

Do you have the ability to record rough g&v's of your songs? It doesn't take much. Even plugging in a cheap mic to your computer and using any number of free audio recording programs out there will do the trick. I'm talking scratch... just get the song idea down.

Let's hear some of those new songs!

Oh no, that YouTube video just made me feel like you're skeptical about me.

It's as simple as this: I believe that you will have songs placed if you're able/willing to persist. I remember what it was like being the poor struggling musician having to hear things like, "Why don't you get a REAL job!".

I've done this kind of thing before for other people I believe in, here on these forums. I'm just talking about a little producing/re-mixing on a few songs. I'm like a fan who's willing to help at a difficult time (not an on-going thing). I offered to help for nothing (which I meant) so you'd understand that my motives are not self serving.

When I had more free time, I used to be quite an active member of http://www.kompoz.com which is an online collaboration website, were everyone works together on songs for free to help each other. Incidentally, that's my singing voice you hear on the introductory video from around 1:00. On-line collaboration is just what I'm used to. I believe it's a model for future music production.

Oh Cardell  ah it's fortunate you took the whole Del Boy theme the negative way  No no no no I dont mean it like that at all. It's just my poor attempt at trying to keep everyone in a good mood and make us all laugh. I am a huge fan of ''Only Fools and Horses'' and I thought the Del boy video/theme of my reply along with him mentioning ''We are going to Australia'' ( because you are from Australia ) would make you laugh.

No I have great faith in you and your work and I look forward to sending you what I can. I have mixcraft 5 and a studio mic tbone 600 along with Pop Guard. I need however some kind of compressor for the vocals because I've simply no brains to use the equipment. Plus I use it for recording little acoustic demos and sending them into the screener to test it out and see what their take on it is before finally going ahead and spending any money I would have on it. I am moving house now you see and I am dismantling everything here at the moment. What has me optimistic about my new house is that it has three bedrooms ( the one we have now is so small you couldnt swing a cat in it lol ) which means I can use one of those rooms as a recording studio and I'm gonna try and tip my dad for some help in getting it constructed. I need proper construction because I tried singing in my wardrobe and it sounded like I was singing with my head under a boat LOL. Very horrid.

Casey I worked up the courage to send in ANywhere but here to the forum as my acoustic demo. But it's not normally my style here to show people unfinished work. I like to do as much as a I can to it ( production and sound wise ) to make it complete for myself before displaying it publicly. This way when I hear the feedback I can view the criticism I need to tighten up the notches around it. You might not think thats a good idea but please by all means let me know why if ya can as it would help me out a lot.

Stephen :D

Thanks Andy. I got your message. I'll respond to it when I get a good moment to relax, sit and let my hair down. :D But it was a great message from the get go.

Speak soon

OK, I understand...no harm done. :)

I guess that can be the problem with the written word. I haven't seen that show before, but that guy's acting is VERY good!

I'll be able to work with whatever you send me. I've been doing this for over 25 years. It doesn't mean I'm great at it (unfortunately) but I am used to working with a wide range of tracks and issues. Also, because I'm a singer & musician myself: I don't stress and obsess about technical/sonic issues. I'm primarily interested in the vibe of the track...and co-incidentally, so is the majority of the listening public. ;)

I'd provide you with a mix + all of the [your] stems to use (or not use) at your discretion. When you're ready my friend.

Hi Stephen

Don't let being broke stand in your way. I know it's really, really tough to do this music thing but if it's really, truly in your blood you will never be happy doing anything else.

Here's my advice regarding recording:

Do not waste any money on 'recording schools.' Instead, spend the money on recording gear and learn as you go along. That's what I did. Virtually every track on my Taxi page I recorded myself on my lap top with no outboard gear of any kind save a microphone, a couple of guitars, a midi keyboard and with no training whatsoever. I'm not saying my recordings are ever going to win any engineering awards but I've had quite a few forwards with a number of these songs and many compliments about my mixes so they are 'good enough.'

Don't fool yourself that you're not technically-minded or don't know anything about recording. Me neither. I knew nothing when I started and I know next to nothing now but I can somehow blunder my way through until I get something that sounds listenable. Heh heh! I'm the most technophobic person you will ever meet so If I can do it then so can you.

I don't want to sound like I'm advertising here or the powers that be might delete my message but... get one of those new-fangled products made by a certain fruit-named company. You know... not a lap top... the larger-than-a-phone touch-screen kind of device... they are reasonably affordable and you can do AMAZING things with them. A friend of mine played me a track he'd recorded just using the built-in mic and it was mind-blowing!!

It might take a few weeks or months even to really get a handle on getting some decent recordings but think about the possibilities... imagine not having to go into a studio and fork over a couple of hundred quid each time... but instead having the capability of sitting down wherever and whenever you like to create a fantastic sounding recording!

Do it! Find the money to get the gear you need. Where there's a will there's away. I'm not a religious person but I do believe in the mantra 'Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find.'

Here endeth the sermon for today.

All the best,

Mark
