Hey apjc10,After listening, the thing that stands out the most is the bass synth. It sounds somewhat flat, and out-of-tune, at least to my ears. You've got a strong beat going there. I think the telephone ringing was a little overdone. 4 times would've been sufficient. Nice vocal unisons. I'm with you on the telephone thing...it's also not quite the right sound but its the only one I had...I will double check the bass...it's a real bass so it is possible it was just out of tune...(nice ear)Thanks again man...

apjc10,Hey...no problem. Got a cell phone? Maybe you could record a more current tone playing from that. Just a thought. On the other hand, if current tones don't fit within the song, you might just have to stick with the one you have. Or...you can get on the net and type 'telephone .wavs' in your search engine, and see what you come up with. That's what I do when I'm looking for a specific sound. Hope this helps.ibanez468

since I'm late on the thread....hopefully I'm listening to right version....The bass and kick balance is buggin' me....I'm not sure if its EQ or just the uneventful(sorry for lack of a better word) bass part....this could use some tastiness....note wise and rhythm...also the drums a little more phrasing....the vocals are very, very, very good...and the melody is great...the song is great...the rhythm section needs to play the song, not just be a blanket to lay on...you can try pitch shifting the phone ring....what exactly do you want...I'm looking at a sound effects phone ring cd as we speak....so to speak...good luck,Vicky

For one-off sound effects that are license "clean" check out: http://www.sounddogs.com/I'd be wary of using stuff downloaded off the web in case someone is posting copyrighted material, unknowingly or knowingly.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Good: Vocals, excellent: melody, pretty damn good. In a way thats enough to construct a good song.Bad: You need to make the song more attractive, I would clean out all except the singing and rearrange. Start with the rythm section, it needs to be more human for a song like this I think. Also the guitar riff that keeps going gets annoying after a bit, I would pull that out or at least do it less. The telephone bit was not to my taste.I think this could become a very good song.

Quote:I'd be wary of using stuff downloaded off the web in case someone is posting copyrighted material, unknowingly or knowingly.Well yeah, mazz is right. I should've been more clear about that. I wouldn't just grab any ole' thing. I'd make sure whatever I'm downloading wouldn't be an infringement on a copyright. I'd definitely try and find a good source for downloading .wav files. I actually try not to use anything off of the net, as I have a ton samples at my disposal that have been cleared for usage by aquiring software and that. But every now & then, when I don't have something, I'll search on the net, and try and find something from a reliable source. Even if I have to pay for a license (but that's extremely rare). But I hear what you're sayin' mazz. Yeah apjc10, be careful about what u use off the net. Not tryin' to get you in any trouble or anything. It was just a thought that I wasn't completely clear about. I assumed that most people would know and judge, what would be good to download & what wouldn't. My bad!ibanez468PS-- That may be why I suggested just using something off your own cell phone, but hell...that may have a copyright as well. Ya' might just have to stick with whatcha' got! Just make sure any samples you use, are cleared. Most of mine are from ACID or other software purchases, and I personally got in contact with someone to make sure that they were cleared to be used in my own compositions.
