I'TS A GOOD PLACE (country) (with Marc Blackwell)
Marc Blackwell and I have a new co-write. All comments welcome .. on lyrics, melody, production, anything. We plan to pitch the song to country artists.http://marcblackwellmusic.com/MusicTestDrive.htmllyric is there toovox still need a touch up Thanks,Dean and Marc-------------------------------------------------------PS If you are so inclined, we could use your help with one production point. Should we: 1. Wait until the bridge to bring in the eguit ... like version 12. Or start the eguit in verse2 ... like version 2

Hey guys,I checked it out.I guess I heard version 1...Music sounds fine to me.Lyrics...I'd say if this is for a country artist pitch they are not going to be strong enough.Of course that is JMO and I kind of hate to say that as it's sort of a generic slap down, but that bar is so high ...well... What is the goal for this song?

Thanks RLD, we really appreciate the opinion. We plan to pitch the song to country artists first ... then if that fails, we'll go film-tv with it.

I like version 1. What's not to like about that. I don't have much production help for you. I tend to review on the feel. I thinks it's real nice. Good lyric. "Just a house of cards in a tonado town" Great line. Carry on. Dave

Hey Dave. Version 1 is my favorite. And I also love that line. Thanks for giving us a listen and some feedback.

Re: I'TS A GOOD PLACE (country) (with Marc Blackwe
hi guys--version 1 is my fav, but i'm wondering about the "person" thing--when i sung this to myself 2nd time around, and use the FIRST PERSON...my, i, me, etc, man do i think it makes more sense, cuz frankly it took a few listens to understand exactly the where and who this was about.--that said, the structure is DAMNED GOOD. i love the music guys,,,,if i were you, i'd sing this just for fun and so you can tell me i'm full 'o crap (used to that...LOL) and just sing it in the FIRST person, of course the last line of the bridge would have to be twisted a bit...and the first verse tweaked to it being YOU, but jack don't know as much as YOU do....in short, as steve seskin might say, i'd like this comin' from YOU, from your perspective about yourself, think it would work better...oh, one last quick thing, but i'm no fisherman either--a speckled trout is usually in a "lake", not in salt water "bay"s, no? but they both rhyme, so i honestly don't know the answer...really do like this allot...except for what i'm suggesting...very nice vibe"it's a good place where i wound up,etc."it's a good place where my storm died out"great luck with it...warren

Warren,Thanks so much for the feedback. lol ... Someone beat you to the punch. We are already dealing with the trout issue. The new line will be:..................... Like a calm shady cove to a big ol' lazy troutThere are both salt and fresh water speckled trout, so technically the current line is 'correct', but to avoid confusion we are changing it to 'cove' ... cause coves can be off of a lake, river, or bay .. salt or fresh water ... and a 'lazy' trout doesn't lead you one way or the other either .. and 'lazy' is a good word for the song too, in the way it is used here .. like 'comfortable'.Do you like the new line?As for going first person ... hmmmm? ... it doesn't hit me now .. but maybe it will hit me or Marc later ... it is a story of 2 brothers ... it has a nice surprise in the bridge where you find out who is singing the song .. i think that is all good .. but ..... you may be right ... good to have the thought in our minds anyway as we proceed.I agree with you on version1! and the vibe!Dean

Re: IT'S A GOOD PLACE (country) (with arc Blackwel
I usually agree with Warren's take on thing's but I think this song is best sung from brother to brother as is. That's what it's about .The older brother seeing his younger brother aimless and maybe a bit wild then settling down to a great family life ("A good place where you wound up") and the older brother wishing he had the same "good place" in his life. To me that is the core of the song's message. Which is a strong one. Just my "for what it's worth". No offense to Warren. Dave

Thanks for chiming back in Dave. I've been thinking about what Warren said, but I really can't see it working any better that way.. seems like it would actually lose a lot of its power that way .. it was designed to be told by the older brother. But I always appreciate any opinion, like Warren's. It is fun to think it thru and see how it might work that way.

Not qualified to comment on the lyrics but tthe strongpoint of this song is the nice "warm" vibey sound which is showcased better in version #1 IMO-
