I was asked to make some music for a basketball pregame

Post by feaker66 » Wed Feb 10, 2016 3:51 pm

This all started at a party with some athletes. One guy asked to listen to some of my songs. He liked some of the uptempo stuff and wondered if I could play along with a video etc. I told him I would like to try it.

I have Ezdrummmer, but only the standard package. Was wondering what expansion would work.

Any other hints like what kinda bass sound etc.

thanks

Sincerely

Paul

Hey Paul!
You should absolutely do it!
I'm thinking you should just start with what you've got...
Write your drum pattern, then...
You should have a couple of Snare/Kick/Cymbal choices to play with in your EZDrums Drum Editor...
When you have EZDrummer open and can see the drums, click on the little arrow on each Snare/Kick/etc. and see what you already have to choose from.
As for the bass?
Write the part with any instrument (If your doing midi) and then, one at a time, switch through all of your Bass or Bass Synth options till something sounds good to you.
You have good ears!!!
Make something that would get you excited before a game.
They've heard your music and they have asked YOU to write something.
Don't be "Somebody Else"...
2cents :D

Yeah Moj, I know that was very vague, but I am excited on one hand and confused where to start on the other. It sucks not to do midi. I am wintering in Texas and don't even have a bass here. Might go to the pawn shop and get one. ha ha
I wanted to inject some situational vox in while watching the contest. I think it will be fun. I will have him send a sample.

Cass (label mate) ha ha I just have to have the gadgets to pull this off. I can't overhaul an engine without a ring compressor etc. I haven't played for weeks. Have to get onboard again.

Thanks to two special guys

Sincerely

Paul

So we're clear, do you need a video soundtrack, or do you intend to entertain, like at halftime, with a backing track?

I guess he has been buying tracks and then applying them to basketball, baseball, etc games over the top of the videos he takes. I watched a couple videos with the music, and was ready to throw something after hearing it drone on forever. I think I could do much better. ha ha
He said he pays between $60 to $100 per song. He then sells them(video with music) to family, coaches, fans etc. I don't think it is a big money maker?? Just sparked my imagination and made me cock my head sideways and say hmmmmmm???
