Re: If "The Beatles" was a single album...
Some good reading here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_(album)I always liked the less "well known" tracks like Cry Baby Cry, Sexy Sadie, Savoy Truffle, etc... I also think Harrison's writing was top-notch during that period as well as Abbey Road, some of which overlapped in time.As far as The Beatles working together as a group, this is probably the least so in their history. They were fighting like crazy and most songs were individual efforts. And Revolution #9, IMHO, is one of the largest wastes of Vinyl is music history. We couldn't go to the next track with a "click" back then. Casey

I put the kettle on, it didn't suit me.

Yea, that's the effect it has on me, too.Re: George's songs --- I LOVE "Savoy Truffle," "Long Long Long" etc. --- I think it was "Savoy Truffle" where the sax players really honked a great, well-recorded part, and George H. told them "That's fantastic! But, now I want to distort it" to the chagrin of the players. I believe they ran the part way in the red on the board and put it on another track to make it sound like it did.Ern

Ok, I know this thread is about the White Album, but through the years Let It Be stands out as one of my favorite Beatle albums, with songs like One After 9:09, Dig a Pony, Two Of Us and Across The Universe, and Get Back, and the fact that it was played mostly live without a lot of overdubs. It just has a real honesty.Cam
