If you knew Sousa like I know Sousa ...

Post by ncc1701 » Sun Jun 15, 2008 7:41 pm

NEW LISTING -- BRASS MARCHING BAND INSTRUMENTALS a la John Philip Sousa are needed by a well-established Music Publisher with tons of Film/TV placements, including a lot of TAXI material that has been signed and placed. This publisher does NOT want actual songs written by Sousa, but rather soundalikes in the style of Sousa's marches. If additional instrumentation is used, please keep in mind that the brass section should stand out above the rest. Excellent performances are essential and broadcast quality is needed. This company offers a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal -- you keep your original copyrights. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS -- NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI -- and must be received no later than July 18, 2008.TAXI # Y080718IN------------------------It looks like about every six months, on average, a listing comes along that I get so excited about that I can't think of anything else. I got the June 15 listings yesterday and a couple of hours after reading them (had to watch a movie with my daughter first) I had composed and orchestrated the A-strain for my Sousa march. If anybody else is going for this listing and needs that piccolo solo for the second time through the trio, you know where to find me. Kathleen,Go for it! I was wondering about this myself as I feel like I grew up on Sousa marches... but I'm too far away technologically and/or financially from being able to make a good recording of anything I might come up with. I'm eager to hear what you create!--Mer

Working feverishly every spare moment! I'm currently tweaking the voices in EWQLSO for the instruments I don't have live players for - that should only be drums, tuba and clarinets - and then I can start laying down the rest of the tracks. I don't want to post the keyboard MIDI version because it's too hard to hear the actual song through the horrible synth voices, if you ask me.My big fear is that I'll get 95% of everything done and then my poor little computer will tell me it has no more memory and it can't handle processing all those audio tracks. So keep your fingers crossed!Kathleen

Oh Kathleen good luck! I know you'll be able to do it. Great that you'll have so many live instruments - this will be a real treat, I'm looking forward to hearing it. Plus sending positive vibes to your computer...--Mer
