if you quit Taxi

Post by ronnie35 » Sat May 28, 2016 3:50 pm

If I decide to leave Taxi for a year due to personal life reasons. WHEN I return do I stay at the same status? Right now I am at committed musician. Also, I 've received some forwards I haven't received any placements yet, would I still get contacted since the forwards were processed when I was a member

Hi Ron - committed musician is just based on the number of posts you've made on the forum - these titles can be assigned by the owner of a forum when they are setting up the forum, for fun. The TAXI forum is open to all and even if you let your membership go for awhile you may still visit and post here.

Once your piece is forwarded the contact information is with the listing party and TAXI is no longer a part of that, so yes you would be contacted if they are interested in your music. Make sure you keep that email alive.

On an added note if you submit to listings before your membership runs out you'll still get your results if your membership expires.

That's correct,
and I also heard (but you'd better check this out) that even your Taxi profile page would remain, should you register back. All the uploaded material will remain the same.

Yes that is correct. However you may not be able to upload anything new. Not sure.

I meant, if you register back again, all the uploads would still be in place, no?

You can still access your page and submission history, your music is still there, as a non-member, I believe

I have been with Taxi on and off for years. You can not access your member page while not under membership. Well, at least in my case.

If I remember correctly, there is a time period that your profile stays up so people don't have to rebuild and re-upload if they renew after their deadline expires. BUT, I think there is a time limit because we'd have SO much stuff hosted if we left every old member's stuff on the server it would cost a lot to host it ad infinitum. Wow, I used a big word and it came back redlined. Did I spell it wrong?

One thing you can do if you don't renew:
* Create a folder on your PC called something like "Taxi Profile"
* Download all the tracks on your Taxi profile page and save them in that folder.
* If they are songs, copy/paste the lyrics to word documents for each song, also in that folder.

It can be time consuming if you have 50 songs up there but it will make it much easier for you to re-create your page if you rejoin and need to.

PS I use this method for juggling what's on my Taxi profile page when it's full and I need to make space to submit something to a listing that is not on there.

Best
:D Casey
