Independent Southern Music Radio Show
Hello Taxi gang. My name is Joe Logan. I've spent about 30-years in broadcast/commercial radio. If you are curious, check out MY RESUME.Okay... why am I here? What's this non-musician doing hanging out here at the Taxi forum?I have an idea for a one-hour music program on a local community radio station. We call it "community" because it is non-profit and not supported by networks like NPR, etc. I may eventually market the program to some other radio stations. The reason I signed up here is to go to the source. I want your opinion on the show. What would benefit the musician and songwriter the most? My target date is January 1st, 2008.The weekly one-hour radio program will feature Southern artists from Independent music labels. I want to title the program "The Independent Southern Music Radio Show." The program would be produced and mixed entirety at my home studio. Each week, the program will feature a telephone interview with an artist, a new artist spotlight, and news and tour information from independent artists from around the country, the past week's top selling artist, and lots of great music from Southern independent label artists. To support the program I created a MYSPACE PAGE. Each week, I will blog the weekly playlist from the Independent Southern Music Radio Show. Let me know what you think. And thanks!Joe

Hi, Joe, welcome to the board. I think your idea is a really good one. I'm gathering from your post that your radio show is mainly for artists and not non-performing songwriters. I'm just a songwriter, but if you're ever interested in hearing anything I've written, you can send me at PM, ( I guess you're familiar with how to send a private message on this board) and I'll send you my TAXI link of some of my song demoes. Thanks, and welcome once again.

Re: Independent Southern Music Radio Show
It was a judgment call. I looked over the thread topics and chose the Hangout because I wasn't looking to promote the program. It figures, an issue with my first post. That's me... always starting something. Then again, I am the newbie. It may take some time for folks to warm up to me.My hope is that a majority of the Taxi members will troll through this thread and leave some comments. The main reason I signed up here is for the artist and, yes, writers' perspective. I have always believed, when it comes to radio the writer has taken a backseat to the actual artist who performs the song. With my program I hope to rectify that by spotlighting the writers.I can't tell you how many times the rhythm catches my attention, but it's the lyrics that blow me away. One of the things I did not mention in my post is the fact that I do not have the product (the actual songs) needed to produce the show. Maybe over the next couple of months I'll be able to make some contacts here at Taxi to help with a demo of the program.More thoughts to come...Joe
