Ern, my Tascam FW-1884 has 8 analog ins and outs, ADAT and S/PDIF I/O (eighteen total audio ins/outs) and four MIDI I/Os (64 channels) plus some virtual MIDI ports for patching internally between apps. They throw in a real nice control surface with motorized faders and Mackie Control emulation; Musician's Friend is blowing them out on clearance for $1099. I don't use it with DP, but I'm told there are templates available for controlling all the various functions; also for most other major DAWs (P/T/Cubase/Logic/Sonar) It's built by Frontier Design, so converters /preamps are on par with Focusrite/Lexicon/MOTU; maybe a step down from Apogee, but I get pretty good results....
