invite to library

Post by oakman » Mon Feb 25, 2013 7:19 am

I got in invite, as they call it, to a library that I thought my song got placed into a couple of years ago. Quite sure it's not a library that works with Taxi. Now they're sending me an invite where they want $350 to pitch my song. This just doesn't seem right. Anyhow have an opinion on what I should do?

They pay you. You don't pay them.
They pay you. You don't pay them.
They pay you. You don't pay them.
They pay you. You don't pay them.
They pay you. You don't pay them.

....oh, and just in case you're still confused....

They pay you. You don't pay them.

Not sure where I heard this, but it goes something like this:
"They pay you. You don't pay them." ;)

Thank you for clarifying this. Probably didn't matter because I don't have $350 to give them anyhow. :)

You are the second person who has asked this question recently on te forum. And mentioned the same $350 charge. Brutal.

Unfortunately someone will pay that. Not anyone here, fortunately, but someone desperate to get their music out there who doesn't understand the business will pay them. :( :(

Well I sure do appreciate everyone chiming in on this. I'm going to contact the company that published this listing for the library in question (it's not Taxi of course) and see what they think about the actions of one of their listing providers.

I think it may be worth mentioning here that a few months ago I got an email from a company that was very interested in my music. They even named some titles....

I checked them out and they were asking for a fee. This one was $99. As soon as I saw that I figured someone went down the list of Taxi profiles and sent out a mass email of sorts to try and get business.

Just wanted to add that in case anyone else got something similar.

Libraries don't find you or invite you in unless you have been referred or contacted them and gone through the vetting process. Unsolicited invites are SPAM.

been contacted several times through soundcloud. watch out for that.

similar kind of deal. one was for PR. the other was a "pay up front" Library.
