Is Auld Lang Syne a christmas song?

Post by eeoo » Mon Apr 01, 2013 11:08 am

I was thinking of submitting my version of Auld Lang Syne to this listing:

ORIGINAL or PUBLIC DOMAIN Christmas Songs **and/or** Instrumentals are needed by the Owner of a very successful Music Library for Film/TV Placements. Your songs can be in any genre, but be SURE to stay true to the original melody and lyrics of the song if you're covering a Public Domain Song or Instrumental. Tracks MUST SOUND CURRENT, as these will be used for contemporary projects. Got a ukulele version of "Silent Night" that's got a raspy, but really cool vocal on it? Send it in! Got a piano/cello/vocal version of "White Christmas" that makes you want to light the fireplace and snuggle up with your loved ones? Send it in! But make sure whatever you send really stands out as cool and contemporary… maybe even a little quirky if your vocal is unique and captivating. Above all, try to capture the spirit of the holiday.

Is this a christmas song or do you only think of new year's when you hear it?
It's on my Taxi page.

Thanks!

eo

It is played for Christmas in the ole James Stewart film "A wonderful life" as I recall, but over here we mostly hear it at New Year's.. Guess I'm not really helping here, sry.

Hey eeoo
I think of it as a New Year's song, not a Christmas one... That being said, it's only $5 to give it a shot.

I only think of New Years when I hear it, but the holidays are so close together, often Christmas films will have some New Years scenes in them. I think it's worth a shot.

Hi Eo,

For what it's worth, I sent Taxi a version of Auld last year for a Christmas listing and they commented that it was really well done, had a pocket and was well produced but it was not a "Christmas song". It was returned, I believe for no other reason than that.

So, take that as you wish. :)
