Is MySpace Locked Up?
On 09/17, I sent a PM to someone on MySpace, asking them to listen to one of my tunes. She replied that she couldn't get my tune to play on MySpace. I tried to play one of her tunes . . . and another . . . and another . . . nada . . . and then I tried a different artist, and her tunes wouldn't play either. So, is anyone here having the same problem, or am I doing something really stupid? Ott
p.s. besides still being on MySpace.

Re: Is MySpace Locked Up?
I can play. You need to enable pop-up windows if you haven't done that.
That's a new thing with Myspace I guess.

Orest: Thanks for replying. Any chance you could tell me how to do that? Ott

Re: Is MySpace Locked Up?
Pop-up blocking is a feature in many browsers. Usually it can be turned off on a site by site basis so your browser can continue to ignore annoying pop-up ads elsewhere. Some browsers will display a message when a pop-up is being blocked, and give you the option of unblocking for the current domain (Firefox does this, or did) You'll need to do this for some sites; your healthcare provider, some banks and insurance companies.( some forms are in pop-up format and are not advertisements) If your browser doesn't alert you that a pop-up has been blocked, it's probably Chrome or a variant. (Chrome shows only a tiny icon of a popup window with a reed "X" in the address bar, it's easy to miss) For Chrome, click the wrench icon in the upper right corner of your browser window and select Options. (Preferences, if you're on a Mac) Then click Under The Hood, look for the Privacy section and click Content Settings. You'll see a link for the pop-up help page. If you're on another browser, copypaste the following into the Google search engine: "[name of your browser without the brackets] popup help". That should get you the info.

Mojo: As usual, you always try to help. I don't know of "chrome", or frankly, any of the stuff you are trying to help me with. What i want to know, is if there is a link on that damned MySpace page that will let me click, saying, "yeah, I'll let you throw pop up ads at me, and then you'll maybe let people who click on my page listen to my tunes". Jerks!!! Casey: You are absolutely correct. MySpace is on a death spiral, and I really regret having taken the time to post music and "make friends" on it. Ott

Re: Is MySpace Locked Up?
Mojo: I went this evening on MySpace, and after a too long time, found their ostensible "help" page. No help at all. wouldn't take my complaint. So I went back to my "friends" page, clicked on you. Wouldn't play your tunes. When I tried my homepage, I couldn't play my tunes either. If these bozos want us to enable pop-up ads in order to have us listen to each other, they should make it clear and easy. The lunatics are running the asylum. Ott

What's the name of your browser?
If it's Internet Explorer (I never use it myself) you can try "Tools" you should be able to find "pop-up windows" and enable them. you can probably find that information in "Internet Options" as well.
It could also be a flash problem.
Go to www.adobe.com and download the latest version of Flash.

Re: Is MySpace Locked Up?
Ott, it's your browser, the program that collects and downloads files for display on your screen, that needs a tweak-this isn't Myspace's fault. (or only because they tried to improve your experience-you can now navigate the various Mypace pageswithout the music having to reload with each page; the music doesn't stop just because you clicked something) You probably don't want to turn off popup blocking completely, just for Myspace. When your Myspace page loads, look around your screen for any indication that a popup has been blocked-there's almost always something. Usually there'll be an option to allow the popup on a one-time basis or for that site, whenever you visit; that's the option you want.

Re: Is MySpace Locked Up?
Mojo & Orest: Emily & I tried your various options, and so far have been unable to make them work on this particular computer. Though my site plays on our other computer, not to mention my smartphone. She pointed out that I have a nasty tendency to click on "later" when updates to various programs on this computer are offered. Could that be the problem? I'll also add that another MySpace member said she couldn't get my songs to play, which is why I assumed the problem was with MySpace, and not mmy computer. This no longer appears to be the case. Why will one of my home computers play my MySpace tunes, while the other will not? Clues and advice would be appreciated. Ott
