Is This Too Place Specific

Pretty song. Is it too specific? It depends on the genre and type of pitch. In general, for film/TV the less specific the better-- people's names, geographical locations all can make it tougher. But Celtic ballad is a more narrow genre so you MIGHT have more leeway- if they are looking for that to start with, it might be OK. Just a thought, without the written lyrics in front of me-- Could you change the references to Ireland to something more generic?Dave Coe is an old friend of mine from the tonos.com days. Nah this is fine IMHO. In general place specific songs are less of a problem that name specific ones (like love songs with a name in them), unless it's REALLY specific...let's say an ode to Hoboken New Jersey would have very limited applications .Of course anytime your lyric has anything place specific in it it will limit its applications, but it may also make it more desirable for certain applications.I do think this song would have more uses if the arrangement and sound of it was more traditional Celtic in nature to better match the lyric, and less generic pop. In my experience, nine times out of ten when a lyric with Celtic imagery is called for, a more obvious Celtic sound in the music would also be desirable.Just something to think about...matto

hi mikey 11--very nice isles tune my friend.man, it's very nice to hear some classic style old fashioned yet clean and friendly MELODY again. i really like this tune. gives me a very nice feeling--and i'm from california man! (but i'm told i'm 1/16th irish OR scot, and about another 1/16 english, but isn't everybody something from over "there"?nice job, and i too have zero problems with the "location" thing in this genre.good luck, and nicely done...warren
