It Just Came to MeI was runnin' from a run of bad luckmissed church from drinkin' way too muchso I took a walk to brighten my blue heartin some weeds I saw a poor hound pupscared and lost...its nose was all scuffed upstepping slow cos it was nearly starvedwas it my outstretched hand or lonesome smilewho knows cos even though that pup was wildit just came to melike we'd always been friendssometimes we forgetthe best things on earth are heaven sentI was standing stillbut like most blessings willit just came to meI had some jerky so I tore off a pieceit took a few bites till it trusted methen that hound tailed me all the way back homeI grabbed a pint and began to pourbut my soul was dry for something moreit wouldn't own up to bein' on its ownthen somehow in that hound I saw a poor, lost manand out of the blue I felt God's open handit just came to melike we'd always been friendssometimes we forgetthe best things on earth are heaven sentI was standing stillbut like most blessings willit just came to memy doubts were dark as could betill the day the light saw me and it just came to meit just came to me(c)2006 Robert George
