Seriously though, I think it depends on how you present yourself to the music world. If you are thinking the FAWM 50/90 challenge is a way to increase the productivity of "Linzi, the artist", then your a capella songs are pretty good (to me). If you threw in a sparse accompaniement (does the piano fit in the bathroom?), you would be doing even better. If, however, you are intending to present the "Linzi as part of my awesome band" to the world, then collaborating with them will move you closer to having some more good songs to showcase...and the extra effort is called for. Does that make sense? From what I've read on the site, as long as you've written a song, and you capture the essence in some medium, you've proven that you've done it. The FAWM website requires song titles at a minimum...but we're supposed to finish things off to get credit (whether we share everything or not).By the way, your natural reverb in the water closet is better than 50% of the VST I've auditioned over the last 8 months. If you want to cut the reverb down a little bit (to put you more forward in the eventual mix), then use fluffier towels on the rack to deaden the sound. But to your original question, I hereby gladly accept all sounds coming from your bathroom as proof you're worked hard to push something out.

Re: It Never Rains It Pours
Hi,Just a quick one, lots to do.Devin, thanks for that. I hadn't really been thinking along those lines.Practised with the band last night. It's good fun but I introduced another little tune to the guy on keyboard and...he laughed! These guys are in it for the hobby, which is great but I need to work harder than that. Also, here's the nasty bit. I will write a song and sing it (in the above way), take it to group and play them a few chords from which they will build, and very quickly it turns to pop/rock. So I end up singing a completely different (forced) version of my song - and it kind of ruins it for me, makes it harder to sing too.Should I stick to doing just covers with the group and concentrate on my own work from home? I'm not a good piano player but if I can get some ideas out into cyber space I will be satisfied!Still haven't had my 50-90 confirmation email (password) by the way. I've sent a couple of messages now...not long to go so I better sort this out quickly.Hey, thanks Dave

Great to hear you singing, Linz!! You have a really nice voice... Don't worry about the rough recording. You need to get your music out for feedback.I really like this and love the jazz/swing feel of this song. It gives you something relatively unique that can fit some niche film/TV opportunities when eventually recorded professionally. My only comment is I don't hear any strong differentiation between verse and chorus. Granted, in this genre, some of that my come from production, but I think it needs more... Something that really takes off on your hook phrase, "when it rains it pours".I'm glad you are "putting it out there"!! Casey

Hey thank you Erin, it's good to hear from you. Hope you're well.Hi Warren, my tone doesn't very often allow for me to be too sweet. I play this on the piano and actually it's upbeat bluesy and quite jumpy, but in this case it did come out a little on the dark side. I'm worried that it "disturbed you" though and then again I think that's the great thing about music, if I created an emotion I created something more than nothing Thank you, I can totally understand what you're saying.Linzi
