Expensive software, but I feel it has increased my productivity and creativity.

Congrats! It is a massive library with ton of tools and options. I suggests you start searching YouTube for some tutorials, and perhaps a walkthrough. Try "Contact Ultimate Overview". If you have the extra funds, consider joining MacProVideo.com, they have a ton of great tutorials. I believe ADSR also does.

Thanks, yeah, Youtube has been my single biggest source for information. I learned so much in a short time, I feel my head might explode. But it's all good.

I've had it for about 6 months I think... there is so much I haven;t even touched yet. Rounds, Reaktor, just SO MANY things to learn in there. :)

I can't pick a favourite, because every one is perfect for a particular purpose. But I have been using the Monark a lot because I love the original Minimoog. And the user libraries on the website are incredible. I have found a lot of my favourite synths there.

I'll probably pop for the non-ultimate Komplete, at some point, but only because there's already duplication/overlap with some stuff I already bought that's not from NI. For instance, I have a Korg SV-1 that emulates just about every electromechanical stage piano I could need/want, plus the amazingly configurable software Rhodes Mark I and Yamaha CP80 from Addictive Keys, so I likely don't need the Scarbee versions. I'm also well-covered for drums, since I have nearly everything from Addictive Drums. I really like Native Instruments' system for offering upgrade/crossgrade discounts to folks that already own a lot of NI stuff; I think it makes a lot of sense. What doesn't make sense is ending up with nine sampled Steinways, LOL.

The NI Players are free, you know? It's the full version of Kontakt that costs.

I think you need the full version to run it. Had that problem in the past with another vst from 8Dio.

It runs in Kontakt Player. http://www.native-instruments.com/en/pr ... /rise-hit/

Yes, some 8Dio and in fact a lot of 3rd party Kontakt instruments require the full version. Only NI encoded libraries can be run in the Player
but it costs the developer $$$ to encode a library for the Player hence why many don't bother. But any Kontakt instruments released directly by NI should be Player ready.
