Just Renewed for YEAR 2!

Post by TLovato » Fri Apr 18, 2025 8:13 pm

Just signed up for Year 2 as a TAXI member!

My first year was hard, but that was mainly because I kept shooting myself in the foot with my bad mindset. I kept submitting to every single listing under the sun and found very little success in doing that (not enough to justify continuing that strategy, lol).

I realize now I should NOT submit to every listing, I should only submit to the ones I'm truly qualified to do -- in my case it's mainly rock or anything guitar-centric, that's what I do best! Every time I've submitted something that's guitar-related, I always at least get compliments from the screeners and get objectively close to a forward.

My favorite part of TAXI so far, apart from the "educational" aspect is by far the community! I love the forums and I also went to the Road Rally 2024. I met lots of great people there. I focused too much on the networking aspect though and I realize now I probably should've gone to more panels and bought a second mentor lunch ticket. Oh well, there's always THIS YEAR's road rally!

Matt Vander Boegh's YouTube channel has also been a great help too. It's truly amazing how I can get an education on the industry from someone like him! Where else can you get that for FREE other than the TAXI community?

Anyway, with my second year now in effect, I really need to rethink my strategy! I've posted it below. What do you guys think?

My 2nd year strategy
-Reach out to more people for collabs
-Submit at least TWICE consistently per month (since that's what most of the successful members have done according to the email I got from TAXI). My sporadic submissions caused a lot of burnout and inconsistent work ethic as a result, I want to be more consistent and submit better quality work.
-Focus only on the listings that I truly feel like I can do
-Watch TAXI TV every week (I really need to do that!!!)

If anyone needs a guitar player, feel free to let me know! I record from home, I use Logic Pro 11, and I record with my Focusrite 2i2 Gen 3 interface! You can hear my playing on my TAXI profile below:

We all have gone through this as Taxi will mention that it takes a couple of years to really get the hang of how the sync music world works.

1. Yes submit to listings that you are most comfortable with but also dabble and learn how to tackle other genres just in case guitar oriented listings are not being requested for a while.

2.Try to submit at least 50 a year if you can and move up to 100 a year hence tackling other genres will increase your submissions.

3.I don't know if you are in a library yet but if you are or do get signed then write a few tracks of a certain style and send it to the library to see if they would like it and do an album for them.

4.Yes join TAXI TV live or watch the archives including MMM which you already do. Checkout the forward blog daily and listen to the forwards from other genres that you don't write to and see if you can write up to par.

5.Join or checkout other sync music groups and network with others to increase your collaboration with others.

I am sure others will add to this but this is it for now from me.

Good luck and keep at it!!

Thank you so much Andre! I will keep all of this in mind. I actually have joined a great sync group already!

Also, is your username a reference to Camaron de la Isla?
