By the way, the Waves L2 Limiter is still on sale at $29 today, but even if you don't buy it (and maybe you don't need to) its worth watching this video on how to use it to increase your mix volumes. It'll show you how dropping the limiter threshold increases volume whilst limiting the peaks, and how the output ceiling sets your final level. Linking those two controls together is a great way to find how far you can go with the limiter.

Most limiters will do the same thing more or less, so the principles are applicable whatever you use.
