Re: Left handed and right handed songwriters
I knew a guy who was a great singer/songwriter, and he hired me to produce his CD. I noticed he played guitar left-handed, and he said he was really right-handed. So I asked him why he played lefty, and he said that he had an accident a few years ago, and chopped off the ends of a few fingers on his left hand. The wild thing was that he took his guitar, flipped it over, and learned to play left-handed! No re-stringing or anything. And he played great. Didn't seem to affect his songwriting, singing, or guitar playing at all. Oh, I once went to one of those "California" psychologists who claimed to be a hypnotist. After a couple of sessions, he said he knew what my "problem" was. "You're really left-handed." --- No, I'm not. What a nut!Ern

Funny story about the psychologist, btw.

Shucks... I'm a lefty too,,, Which sucks... If I tell it true...It's slim pickins when it comes to finding good lefty guitars and mandolins. So few to choose from...I write lefty, but I eat righty which is also nice. Usually I can write a verse and feed my face without sticking the pen into my tongue.Lots of lefties here... Too bad we couldn't take over the world and change everything.

Re: Left handed and right handed songwriters
I'm a lefty as well, but my first guitar hero was my uncle who was a rocker/songwriter til the day he died. I was 9 or 10 when he started teaching me, he gave me an old acoustic and told me to learn right handed play so I could play any guitar I picked up. GREAT ADVICE!I have played some fine guitars over the years and it gives me something to blame my bad playing skills on.btw: it seems I can play a left handed guitar better than I would have thought, the few times I've picked one up I had surprising little problem with chording or picking. It is a right handed world, try sitting at a dinner table too close to a right handed eater, you people are all elbows.

So if my right hand was left-handed too, would I walk with a tilt?
