I remember a Led Zep tune with mandolin in it so my guess is:Who is Jimmy Page?

Quote:He (my all time favorite guitar player) wrote the riff for Claptons "Layla"Hmmmm, that's a good one! I always thought that Clapton wrote the song (and riff), and Jim Gordon wrote the piano tag.So if Clapton didn't write the riff:Who is Duane Allman?Ern

Quote:Who is Duane Allman?Ern Correct, ern. As I heard the story,Clapton had all the musicians meet at the studio on a Monday and showed everyone the song they were there to record that week. Duane walked in the next morning and showed Clapton a riff he wrote last night in his hotel room and offered to let him use it. Clapton loved it.

O.K. --- no more guesses?John Paul Jones is a fabulous mandolin player (and musician in general). If you haven't seen any of the Led Zep DVD that came out a few years ago, BUY IT! It is truly astonishing.Ern

More Beatles trivia! This Beatle walked around Abbey Road Studios with an ashtray on his head with fire flaming off of it during the recording of "Helter Skelter."(Maybe this should be in the "Sgt. Pepper" thread to keep it going!).(Could they have possibly been doing --- er --- psychedelics!?)Ern
