Quote:I'm gonna say Chris Squire because you used the word "progressive"rather than he borrowed a style from anyone.I think if you put a set of "roundwounds"on your bass and hit it hard enough you would sound aggressive but Squire is/was very clever.Maybe I'm wrong Ern but it would be a first. I just got off the phone with Alex Trebek, and because he thought your Charles Mingus answer was clever, he said he'll accept your original answer:Who is Chris Squire?I played with a bassist for many years who was a Chris Squire fanatic, complete with the Rickenbacker bass, Rotosound strings, cape, and all Squire's moves. It was pretty funny, but he's an excellent musician, so we let him do his thang! Jon Ander Ern

Clue:The bandleader's group was called "The Rhythm Boys."(No, not "The Rhythm Method" --- that was Hitchcock's band. Hitch liked to relax by playing the licorice stick, just like Woody Allen ).Ern
