Libraries, instrumental backing tracks and ASCAP
I have signed one of my songs (with vocals) to a library. The instrumental backing track to this same song is already signed to a different library. Both are non-exclusive. Neither library re-titles, so I must register the songs myself with ASCAP. I have given the instrumental a different title to better reflect how it sounds/feels without the vocal. I plan to register both titles separately on ASCAP, just like two different song registrations. Is this the best way to handle this? Thanks for any help you might give on this, Dean-------------------------------------------------------------------------PS There is an alternate title feature when registering songs on ASCAP, should I use that? Not sure what it means. Is my situation above one of the things it is used for .. so there would only be one registration and one of the titles is the 'alternated title'?

Use the alternate title feature for alternate titles for the same music. For example I registered "Song ABC (Backing Track)" and added the alternate title "Song ABC (Instrumental)"... "Song ABC" with vocals is a different registration.HTH Casey

Re: Libraries, instrumental backing tracks and ASC
Thanks Casey. That is what made the most sense to me. Just wanted to verify.
