Hi everyone,
So long story short, a couple of cover tracks was forwarded and I was contacted by a library interested in a buyout deal. They didn't bother going through it though... they then ask if I have any original cinematic tracks which I did have one which I sent to them. They like it and said they wanted to do a buyout deal (mind you, I'm new to this and have no clue how much I should be asking for) and ask me how much I wanted for the track. So I did a quick research on a buyout deal online because I've never done this before and came to a price (I've put the pricing high so that we can come to a fair agreement by negotiating...) On the site i was on, they said always put the price a bit high so you can negotiate... so I did that, and sent the pricing over to them. But they never reply back. Talk about how unprofessional that is, all they had to do was reach out and say hey, that price is too high let's negotiate blah blah blah... but no they decided not to reply back to me and that has been over a month now. And I'm not going to run them down either because they had the opportunity to communicate professionally but they didn't. I don't think I want to work with someone like that. Just wanted to get this off my chest.
Library reach out but then ignore me....

It's a tough one when you have no idea what their ballpark figure is and have to throw out the first number. It could be that the price you suggested was so much higher than what they'd be willing to pay, they didn't even want to negotiate or discuss it further. Not defending their not responding but no response is often how libraries (and other business entities) say no. Good tracks will find another home. Gotta move on.
Best,
Casey

You're so right Casey... But I still just think it's so unprofessional to just ignore someone because of that. But hey it'll find another home.Casey H wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 3:39 pmIt's a tough one when you have no idea what their ballpark figure is and have to throw out the first number.
