Light/Comedic Instrumentals

Does anybody have a clue what they mean by a contemporary light/comedic instrumental? It can be so broad in range I actually do not know where to begin. Do they mean comedic like a sitcom, or perhaps slapstick like a cartoon? Does light mean not to musically dense or perhaps they mean not to loud? I don't know. Any listening suggestions?Thanks

I had no idea what contemporary light/comedic instrumental meant until I submitted this tune. It's been forwarded about 10 times now, to those kinds of listings. Unfortunately, none of the horns or string samples are very high-quality, so I dunno if it'll ever get used. It's not a great tune, I'm just posting it as an example of something that seems to get forwarded every single time it's submitted to one of those comedic instrumentals. If you're talking about this listing:--- CONTEMPORARY LIGHT/COMEDIC INSTRUMENTALS are needed by an East Coast Music Library who provides music for popular ad campaigns and various Film/TV projects. They need high quality, well produced :30 and :60 segments for their premium library. Instrumentation and style is open but the sound should be high energy and exciting --- Dnats & Che, I think the tracks posted above are good, but I don't know if they fit the "high energy + exciting" requirement.I'm reading contemporary as sounding modern, probably particularly in percussion. They say "light / comedic" but they also say "high energy" and "exciting". hmmmm,The high energy part didn't stand out to me. I guess we might have seen that better if it was a bit earlier in the listing. My eyes must have glossed over once it got to the length etc... DUH...

Uh-oh. I think everyone but Steve missed by a mile. I know it is a tough assignment. These pieces are not creating comedic moods, though in all of them I hear the attempt. Some of them even sound scary and ominous. They will need a lot of tweaking and in some cases rebuilding. Big drum parts are not needed or even welcome IMO. Boom-chuck, boom chuck, honk, wheeze.One piece that was listed by itself? might have had a chance, but my machine started misbehaving before I could get very far.Now that is an uninformed opinion. I have never written a comedic piece and don't even know how. I imagine every person who tried will get a grasp on the genre sooner or later. I think it will take a lot more experimentation.
