What's stranger is that say for instance I want to select the velocity tool ,it's no longer assigned to number 9 but it's assigned to a letter. It's really slowing me down.
Ok - preferences > display > mixer >

make sure the "open in controls view" tick box is NOT checked.

close and reopen any plugin windows to check.
Ok, got that part of it fixed, thanks Andy. Why it would default to controls view? Weird.

IDK Jon - but what it sounds like is somehow your preference files got corrupted, which is why that tick box maybe have been ticked etc. So that's why I am thinking trashing preferences can help.

Obviously upgrade to 10.2.1 has affected everybody slightly differently. I haven't had any problems (yet...) but Don (sansharbour) has on another thread with his MIDI controller.

so.....

What a clever way to introduce people to new features, and get them closer to the innards of their software, by showing them options they're not usually accustomed to,lol!

Anyone have a good summary of the changes included in the latest update? I noticed that the Retro Synth and some of the FX plugins look different. New loop content as well!

Hey Paulie
Besides looking at the Apple release notes and going cross-eyed here is a video of some of the improvements

Some real unique cool things.

Sorry I haven't checked back on this post, been gigging every night and had writing deadlines in the daytime. Thank you for everyone's feedback. The 10.2.1 update seems to have fixed most of my issues. Logic X is still new to me so there's an obvious adjustment there. But the latency thing is gone so it's all going fairly smoothly. 3 Deep Breathes.....Everything's ok. :D

I just watched a few videos on MacProVideo.com about the new upgrade, there are plenty of great new things. The re-skinning of many of the effects is one, but it is more than a re-skin: additional features, better interfaces, etc. There are some new bouncing options, the transpose feature now actually moves data in piano scroll view, rhythmic grouping is now possible for the metronome/click so that you can hear your click the way you want, new ability to do track stacks in mice view, ability to delete tracks more cleanly (including automation data), and a new approach to processor multi-threading that should remove issues with CPU overload. That's just a start so far... pretty nice!
