Logic Studio and Stylus RMX

Post by anne » Thu Jan 17, 2008 6:03 am

More computer fun at Anne's house!I've installed both Styluls RMX and Logic Studio on a new disc and my stylus rmx doesn't show up in logic. I did all the updates, it does appear in the AU manager as validated, but I can't find it listed where it should be. Any other users have any ideas? I've scoured the spectrasonics site and keep finding something about a cd joiner, but none comes up in my support downloads. I do get an echo.txt file left on the desktop when installing fresh off the stylus discs, but don't know where that is supposed to go. Help!!

Hi Anne, just to check the obvious stuff first (I don't know how familiar you are with Logic)create a new 'software instrument' track as opposed to 'audio' track. Select the box that says 'multi-timbral' and in the number field enter 8. Now you'll have 8 new tracks which will correspond to the 8 midi channels in RMX.To the left of the arrange area, just above the 'Output' selection slot (it probably says 'output 1-2') you'll find the instrument selection slot, not be confused with the 'insert' slots which are above it. Scroll down to 'au instruments' and you should see 'Spectrasonics' and in that menu 'RMX'. If it's not there you might try this resource, they're very helpful.http://logicprohelp.com/

Wizz: easy install on my main internal drive. Elser: Yeah, I had created a software instrument for the track, but hadn't made it multi-timbral. I'll see if that somehow makes a difference when I pull up the instrument. Right now,I see my AU instruments, and then at the bottom are Apple, Izotope, and some reverb unit that I don't recognize listed. That is where I expected to see the Spectrasonics. I'll work on it tomorrow. Thanks for the idea - I'll post if it works.

Hi Anne, if your seeing a reverb plug it makes me wonder if your looking in the 'inserts' menurather than the 'instruments' menu, it doesn't seem like there should be a reverb unit in the instruments slot.

Hi Guys, I have an update.I removed and reinstalled software, opting for my previous Logic 7.2.2 instead of my Logic Studio, and Stylus RMX works. I also have talked to RMX support and they are looking into this to figure it out.

Hi Anne, one more thing, it seems to me Spectrasonics did an update/patch for Logic Pro. My version is 1.5.1. Go Library/Audio/Plugins/Components to see your version. Check the Spectrasonics sight for updates (you may have already), otherwise it sounds like a bug which Mr. Persing might need to address.

Yeah, I use RMX in L8 everyday. It should work. I don't think the thing about the joiner shouldn't apply anymore... just download the latest application installer off the Spectrasonics site.

Yeah, Stick - I remember you mentioned it at the rally. When I had 7.2 and installed 8 over it, my spectrasonics worked fine. When I installed the full 8 without 7.2 first, it didn't. Very odd.I have just finished making a clone of my nicely working, fully loaded, drive so I can now safely try again.

Yeah, it's probably just that you need the right installer for RMX. You probably had it to get it working in 7 at some point, and now trying to re-install from the discs isn't working right. Just get the latest from their site, and I bet it's fine.
