Looking for an example that made the cut for this

Post by keithl » Fri Dec 12, 2008 7:09 pm

Hey guys,I had a return and was curious to see if anybody got the forward. I wanted to see the type of lyrics they wrote for the song.I wrote this songhttp://www.taximusic.com/stream/185382/Show%20 ... n%20It.mp3(try it a couple times if it does not work...lyrics are at the bottom)For this listingAAA/ALT ROCK SONGS a la Muse, Dirty Pretty Things, The Killers, The Fratellis, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, etc. are wanted by an established Music Publisher in Los Angeles. This company specializes in Film/TV and has signed & secured placements for many TAXI members. Original songs that sound like they could be on the radio will get the most attention here. Solid performances and lyrics that are unique, but universal enough as to apply to a variety of scenes/characters, will hit closest to the markthe song got straight 9's, except for the lyrics, which got a 7. The review stated, "I'm sorry to say that a suggested need for slightly more original content is primarily what prevents us making a match with this one."The one thing I would love to see is lyrics that fit this listing. The problem I was grappling when writing is that it needs unique lyrics but (listing wording) "universal enough as to apply to a variety of scenes/characters", so I thought relationship, wanting it to work out....could be universal. But I guess it is not unique enough? If anybody can give a hand and help me learn a little from this one, that would be awesome! SHOW ME THAT YOU MEAN ITV1sundown ...there's something in the airit's too quiet aroundlike a killer's coming neareyes meet, the showdown's taking placeI can see it in your facecould the end be far from here.PREis this what you really wanted?is this what I really need?CHORUSshow me that you mean itshow me that you want this to workshow me that you mean itthen maybe I could start to believeV2another night, another opportunity lostdesperate timesbut I know that it was never my faultis there someone there?Just give me a sign, show me that there’s reason to carebecause when it's overdoesn't mean that it will be any colderBRIDGEit's really very simplehow this should becan't see how it could be difficultit's black and white to meChorus breakdownCHORUS OUT

My guess here is that the screener had an issue with the originality of the chorus lyrics. The listing gave an example of 'The Killers' and they have a very famous song called 'Smile like you mean it' a line whch is the main hook of the song. I think the similarity was too close for comfort to the screener.
