Looking for Big Room EDM?

Post by TheElement » Thu Jun 18, 2015 2:22 pm

This listing sounds like they are looking for big room but some of the artist have done other sub genres.

What do you guys think?

ELECTRONIC DANCE INSTRUMENTALS (EDM) are needed for NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements on an MTV Reality TV Show. Give them rhythmically aggressive, danceable, full-length, Up-Tempo Instrumentals in the general stylistic wheelhouse of acts like Nero, Steve Aoki, Sub Focus, etc., etc., etc. Please submit club/party-friendly Instrumentals with melodic and rhythmic hooks, plenty of thumping bottom end, and the kind of unbridled energy that makes people have to get up and dance! Easy edit points and buttoned/stinger endings are recommended. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced acts in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This is a NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor pitch. All deals will be made on a case-by-case basis. You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than Sunday, June 21, 2015. TAXI #Y150621ED

I ran out of time to make something new for this, I was gonna go with a Steve Aoki type track ala "Boneless" or "I love It When You Cry" e.g. electro with a hard edge, BUT since I ran out of time and they ref'd Nero I sent an old dubstep/electro hybrid that was gathering dust.

Check the peer to peer, I think Jim Carvalo (sp?) has a good submission up there for the listing.

Yeah Michael, not enough time to put something together either. Those Big Room tracks look easy but they can take some time to do.

I don't have anything like that. I was surprised they asked for Big Room. Most of the time they are looking for Electro House. Or Progressive House.

Guess I will do a Big Room now since another listing like this might come up in the future. Got to be ready. :)

Yeah James got one for that listing. 8-)

well big room is basically what evolved recently, from electro and progressive house..

from my view the Dj/Producers were trying to please very picky massive crowd.. so they would take best parts of electro drops and the best part of progressive house pads and alternate every 32-64 beat.. to keep it interesting. a dj's job is to MOVE THE CROWD

this concept proved very effective, now all the festival style dj's pretty much do the same thing although there are some exceptions.

that is how i describe bigroom which is a fairly new term.. most likely a very young dj came with this mashup-genre.
to the purists who been doing EDM for a long time.. they would most likely call this a mashup which is another fairly new term.

all in all edm has evolved quite nicely and will probably develop more genres as young people get more creative with old school music

to add to JC big room everything is aggressive sounding and pounding. Its not as musical..although parts can be but the main drop usually isn't that melodic. So basically all big room drops kinda sound the same. Everyone is doing the same thing pretty much. Some stabs here and there with a pounding beat. Thats big room.

my only last thought , and many people have many views of edm..

gavins example even though it says big room in the description was mostly hard house and electro house snip its..

my view to be clear (and i'm not an expert) but, i was a pro edm dj for well over a decade is
big room must have the hard house elements and ( most important) the dreamy breakdowns with the pads
to truly be big room..

here's a set by one of the biggest big room dj's on the planet..

take notice to the drop, melodic pads, the rise, and the structure that is the hottest genre in edm right now.
