Looking for Music Making Buddy

Post by KeevinD » Tue Feb 23, 2016 10:06 am

Hi - I joined TAXI on Nov 6, 2015 - info in my bio at my profile, and also, I have a post in the Collaborators section.

But here, what I'm looking for is someone I can talk to on a daily basis about making music. I don't have anyone in my life where I can share what I'm doing with music. So a "buddy" would be nice.

It isn't about genre, doing music together, who we are, all that - but simply someone else who loves music, who loves making music, and would enjoy sharing their adventure and exploration with someone else.

I don't do social networking (takes up too much time, too distracting for me), and I don't hang out at forums (sorry - don't have the time). I just do some things in my home studio involved with making music.

I like music with energy, that goes somewhere, that does something. That has dimension, depth. But that's not me, and has nothing to do with what a buddy might be doing. Only sharing our interest in music is all I'm looking for. :)

If we think of music as a forest - all the elements, aspects, components - then I visit many places throughout the forest - it's what the music does to and for the listener that I'm paying attention to. (I see the listener as the primary instrument to be included in my music, just to give some idea about the kinds of things I'm doing - my Collaboration post has more.)

And that's it. If anyone is interested, you can post to this one, and we'll go from there. If you'd like to have someone you can just share with, but not be in business with, that's what I'm aiming for.

You can certainly find that here; it's a music making community, and we love talking gear and songwriting technique, (and we genuinely revel in one another's successes) but I think you'll also find that while everybody here is generous with their time and talents, the site is mostly focused on the financially rewarding aspects of this wonderful business of music. How else are we gonna be able to afford our ghastly gear habits? ;) ;) ;)

Good luck with your search!

Well, there is the direct route to money, and there is the cultivating route - where doing something that doesn't directly make immediate money can lead to actually making more money, what I think of as the "end around" (American football term).

That is, spending some time gaining more knowledge about what we are doing.

My idea with the buddy is having someone to "talk to" should keep me on track so that I don't get sidetracked, and keeps pushing me when I'm likely to let obstacles and bottlenecks stop me.

And I'm looking for email exchange - we can get to them in our own time, and have more flexibility in the sending and receiving of them, than working through a forum with postings. :)

I'm not expecting this is for everyone, or even very many. All I'm looking for is just one, or maybe 2.
