Love Me When I'm Gone

Post by jchitty » Mon Mar 23, 2009 6:30 am

Remember when you guys passed the hat for a demo for me? Well, here's the finished product, one of them anyway...it's called "Love Me When I'm Gone." (I put it on download so it'd be easier to find) I had Jimi's studio do the demo, and if I'm not mistaken, it's her singing the vocals. Of course, I'm always pleased with Jimi's stuff....I just wanted you to hear it....you don't have to leave a critique if you don't want to, but you guys were so nice to pass the hat, I just thought I'd post it. Of course, I don't mind any comments, pro or con...if you do post, post what you honestly feel. I'd like to submit this to boy/girl groups like Lady Antebellum or Little Big Town. BTW, I am feeling really good, and my treatments appear to be working. I feel better than I've felt in a long time, and I will have a Cat-Scan in a month or so to let everyone know the conclusive results, but I feel something good is goin' on in there. Sorry I haven't been around as much...had a lot of appointments to keep, and I still owe folks some PMs, although I'm catching up. http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.php?userid=2572 Here are the lyrics:Always the same 'ole storyYou pull away when we get closeThen you say you're sorryWhen you see me headed for that doorYou think that love's a gameYou just wanna reel in a catchAnd in your river of flamesYou're always throwing me backChorus:There ain't no changing your heart'Coz you keep on doing me wrongBut that's okay babyYou're gonna love me when I'm gone'Coz you want what you don't haveAnd it won't be longYou're gonna hurt for meLike I hurt for youYou're gonna love me when I'm goneYou think I'll be there for youWhether your love is cold or hotBut I don't want no more abuseThis time I'm calling the shotsSo I'm saying goodbyeThere's nothing left for me hereAnd don't go asking me whyWhen you know it's perfectly clear

I love it! It reminds a little of the vibe on Teddy Thompsons' first album which I love. If this falls into the country category then this is the kind of country I like!!!Glad to hear the good news on the treatments!

Hey Janet, Glad you're feeling better! I like this song, kind of rocky . . . just the kind of country song I like. I think I would have liked it better if it wasn't a duet, but that's just me.Good song and production!

Hey chits gal!!! Very glad you put that thing ta some use, yay!!I like the harmonies a lot. I like Jimi's energy on it, I think the male vox sounds a lil low energy but I think that could be a drumming thing.....didja notice how it picked up right at the very end when the drums did?.The guy might jes not had enough 'oomph' to put some burn on his singing. Time's everythin when the clock's tickin so this turned out good!Good hook, honey. You always got a flare fo that. Nice melody too!

Hey, thanks for your thoughts, Nita and Bill. You guys know how I feel about your music, so your thoughts are always appreciated. Some people are not as fond of duets, Bill...I can understand. The one upside is that I can pitch it to female or male listings or groups. Yeah, I do notice, Squiddy, that the energy of the guy's vocals picked up at the very end...you're right...it's something to think about....maybe a little more drums or some different mixing in the beginning might help the guy's 'oomph.'
